The last two times that director Farah Khan and the Badshah of Bollywood Shah Rukh Khan teamed up for MAIN HOON NA and OM SHANTI OM, they redefined the Hindi film music scene with the musical offerings. Even Farah's last venture, TEES MAAR KHAN (featuring Akshay Kumar), which failed commercially, boasted of popular pathbreaking music ('Sheila Ki Jawani' showed the way for graceful, cute yet sexy item number without being raunchy or crude). So with gigantic expectations one checks out the music of their Diwali extravaganza HAPPY NEW YEAR which promises to be loads of fun, entertaining and crackling.

The song which has already become an anthem of sorts for all us Indians, 'Indiawaale' is so very catchy, so very addictive that one just gets hooked on to the song in just the first hear. The rhythm is catchy, the musical orchestrations just perfect and the renditions of all the singers, Vishal Dadlani, KK, Shankar Mahadevan and Neeti Mohan just superb. Irshad Kamil's magical lyrics are so very appealing and identifiable that any and every Indian (and all India lovers from different countries!) will surely patronize the song in a big way.

The electronic version of 'Indiawaale' is well done and is simply not a mere space filler and makes for fun hear with lots of electronic guiatring and addendums.

The all romantic track, 'Manwa Laage', is another song that one instantly falls in love with instantly. And the reasons are a plenty! Arijit Singh and Shreya Ghoshal, the prince and queen of romantic numbers together are just excellent, lyrics (Irshad Kamil) which are in simple 'desi' Hindi and the lovely melody. Simply chartbusting!

The retro feel (tune wise) is apparent in 'Satakli', a nice situational number that is devotional and festive too in nature. Sukhwinder Singh's rendition is perfect as always. The all out Hindustani musical instrumentations complete with 'band baaja' and Irshad's lyrics, that compare life to a girl who cannot be courted or wooed, makes for a fun hear.

Now here are the strong points of those enlisted to execute this daring robbery:

Jag is a tough guy. Nandu is a look-alike of Jackie's son Vicky Grover. Tammy once worked with Manohar and is more a family member. He knows how to open a safe. Rohan is a hacker. His role is to ensure that their team gets the maximum number of votes in the competition in the India leg, and also do some hacking in Dubai to get to the safe. Charlie, of course is the brain. He has been waiting for this moment for eight years.

So we have six introductions. One for SRK, one for Sonu, One for Boman, One for Vivaan, two for Abhishek and one for Deepika. And mind you, all introductions are quite lengthy.

And in case you are not following the story, don't worry. Charlie narrates it time and again. And Farah also plays out the robbery on screen before the actual robbery can take place. So you don't really miss anything. It's no wonder the film clocks just a minute under three hours.

Now for the dialogues, Charlie whilst describing Mohini's moves describes it as 'breast-taking' and when she admonishes him for being late, he replies, ''I promise you Mohini, mein zindagi bhar nahi letunga.'' Whatever!

To help you endure the movie, there are a few funny portions as well that do make you LOL. I personally loved the one where a Narendra Modi lookalike came on screen to say ''Acche din aagaye,'' when the Indian team started performing well.

There are also scenes with Boman Irani and Abhishek which are a riot.

Finally, you have this gem of a dialogue which sums up the state of the film: ''Olympic ke liye team, Ya Oscar ke liye film, India losers hi bhejte hain.''

Don't be surprised if this one too is nominated for the Oscars!
