The much anticipated HERO remake, the dream launch vehicle of Bollywoood star son-daughter, Sooraj Pancholi and Athiya Shetty, comes loaded with humongous expectations for multiple reasons. First it is the remake of a cult classic with super-duper hit memorable music. Secondly it is Salman Khan Film (SKF) and EROS International venture. And last but not the least it is directed by Nikhil Advani whose penchant for good music is evident in all his movies.
It's a gem of a title track, 'Main Hoon Hero Tera
', composed by the young and talented Amaal Malik. The two versions, one sung by the versatile producer, Salman Khan whose vocal prowess is now world famous and the other by Armaan Malik. Both versions are excellent. While Salman's is low keyed and understated and with superbly emoted rendition, Armaan's is more raw and youthful, in keeping with Sooraj's character and voice.
' by another budding talent Jassi Katyal (DILLIWALI ZAALIM GIRLFRIEND) also comes in two versions. One by the living legend Rahat Fateh Ali Khan (who is par excellent as always!) and the other is a duet by Dev Negi and Shipra Goyal. The sad, sombre separation number is heavily inspired by another Rahat Fateh Ali Khan's classic, 'Main Jahaan Rahoon
' (NAMSTEY LONDON) in parts.
The groovy dance party number, 'Dance Ke Legend
' by Meet Bros Anjjan is fun and entertaining with nice electronics beats and is a classic boys vs girls dance battle. Meet Bros, Bhoomi Trivedi and Sunaina Singh put up a spirited show and Kumaar's lyrics are just apt for the occasion.
Nice child chorus commences 'Khoya Khoya
', a soft, melodious romantic duet with a dew fresh tune (courtesy Sachin-Jigar as always) and lovely Hindustani and western musical arrangements. Mohit Chauhan's rendition is 'man mohne wala
' (heart pleasing) with Priya Panchal, Arpita Chakraborty and Tanishaa providing good back up support.
Amaal Malik's jazz style romantic number, 'O Khuda
', is well orchestrated with minimalistic arrangements and nice flowing rhythm. Both Amaal and Palak put in a good performance. Amaal makes a good debut as a singer.
Sachin-Jigar's 'Jab We Met
' is a lovely really 'hatke
' chhed-chaad number that is youthful, entertaining, and quite rhythmic. The fun atmosphere is charged up with very buoyant arrangements, and Niranjan Iyengar's unique lyrics. Benny Dayal, Shalmali Kholgade, Divya Kumar and Jigar Saraiya are good together.
The audio of HERO (2015) meets the expectations and all the composers have put in their best foot forward. Our picks are the title song 'Main Hoon Hero Tera
' (both Versions), 'Khoya Khoya
' and 'O Khuda
'. The good audio should help the cause of HERO, when in releases all over (11 September), as romantic films with fresh faces need memorable music to pull in audiences.Music Review Rating Chart :-
