UTV Spot Boy's KAI PO CHE! despite starring newcomers, has been making headlines for quite some time. It's intriguing theatrical trailer released to a good response (along with DABANGG 2), more recently it's inclusion as the first ever Indian film to feature in the World Panorama section at the prestigious Berlin International Film Festival, and also going housefull at the world premiere in Berlin, a day prior to its screening, makes KAI PO CHE! all the more anticipated.
The audio too has caught the attention of the music aficionados. And why not as the composer is none other than Amit Trivedi, the iconoclastic music director whose songs have always made a tremendous impact. Penning the lyrics is Swanand Kirkire, whose work is always a joy to savour. Though there are only three tracks in the audio of the Abhishek Kapoor directed venture, yet the curiosity, excitement and expectations are high because of the above mentioned names associated with it. So, let us click the play button and check for ourselves!
The first song, 'Manja' (meaning sharp/cutting thread of kite) is very much in sync with the title of the film, KAI PO CHE! which is a victorious Gujarati cry/exclamation during kite flying (especially when one cuts the competitor's kite). A superb situational and supremely inspirational track that has a lovely fusion of Indian and western string instruments like 'esraj', 'sarangi' 'tabla' and acoustic guitar. Amit's emotive base vocals convey the motivational message through some superb lyrics.

Next up is 'Shubhaarambh' which at first hear appears to be another addition to the 'Navratra-dandiya' dance/ 'garbha' number, but since it's Amit Tridevi at the helm of affairs this one too turns out to be an extraordinary track. The smart and addictive fusion of never heard before bagpipes-'shehnaai' combo and drums along with some superb singing by the composer, Divya Kumar and Shruti Pathak, makes this inspirational-cum-dance number a chartbuster, a song almost in the league of 'Dholi Taro' ! The Hindi and authentic Gujarati lyrics too are easy to comprehend and so the song should find some universal appeal.
The album closes with 'Meethi Boliyaan', another inspirational track that has a soft rock touch to it and a lovely flowing rhythm that is very catchy. The Mili Nair and Amit Tridevi rendered number banks on the superbly fresh, mellifluous and strong and dreamy vocals of the singers and lovely voice modulations and tonal shifts. Swanand's lyrics are award winning, and though we have had countless inspirational numbers, but this one is simply outstanding!
Concluding the album, a dialogue that comes to mind is Amitabh Bachchan's iconic 'Ek maara par solid maara' from AMAR AKBAR ANTHONY, as in the case of KAI PO CHE!, we can say that Amit Tridevi may have just composed three songs but all are simply brilliant, and instead of going in for too many numbers and remixes Amit has concentrated on quality instead of quantity! Simply mind blowing! Amit Tridevi does it again. On the hind side the album has class appeal but is not very mass appealing, as being film centric, it lacks variety!
