Khwahish, with its inexperienced and unimpressive team, is making waves to come
out to entertain the audience. Produced by Vivek Nayak, Khwahish apparently
does not have much to offer to its audience. How much Govind Menon can excel in the
genre of direction is still to be finalized on the release of the movie. New face in the field of the
music, Milind Sagar has composed the soundtrack of this film. And there is no harm in
saying he has done remarkably well in this art. Khwahish features brawny Himanshu
(model turned actor) and a new-find-gorgeous and sexy, Malika in leading roles.
Together they both cannot evoke any kind of enthusiasm inside the moviegoers to watch the film
for obvious reasons---one is they are inexperienced stars and the other is they do not possess
any skills of acting. But "Yes", the pretty Malika could drag the audience to the cinema
halls with her sex appeal. Faaiz Anwar writes the lyrics for this album. Whereas his lyrics
do carry some weight to make the audience come out, watch movie and then buy the album.
Faaiz has been very impressive and creative in his work from the outset. He happens to
be a natural poet. Romanticism flows in widely in his entire works. Initially he got much recognition
with Sonu Nigam's pop albums. With this soundtrack (Khwahish), Anwar
might fetch awards. There enters into picture the other magnificent feature of this album, which
is of course the panel of singers. They include the cuckoo of singing-Asha Bhonsle,
versatile and sharp-voiced Udit Narayan and brilliant K.K.
They obviously lift the soundtrack to the heights. The soundtrack released by Crescendo is laced
with 6 tracks in total. And some of its numbers could bag awards too.
The main attraction of the soundtrack is obviously Asha Bhonsle who happens to be the
only female singer of this album. After such a long time, Asha pockets entire album to
her credit though she has been busy singing a number of songs at the same time for various
composers. The legendary singer Asha Bhonsle does magnificently well in performing
her job as a leading vocalist of this soundtrack.
The album yawns with Hum Dono Hain Khoye, an entertaining track, which totally provides
the ear an enjoyable experience of sailing across the smooth waves of music. The track is inspired
by the yesteryear's evergreen hit song, Jai Jai Shiv Shankar (from the film, Aap Ki Kasam)
composed by the music genius late R D Burman. Asha Bhonsle and Udit Narayan
pair up to render this masti song in an accurate style and mood. The lyrics are excellent whereas
the composer does handle the tunes brilliantly well. He deserves full marks as he reminds the
listeners the beautiful days of R D Burman.
Next walks in, Sapnon Mein, and greets the listeners. It is a solo by Asha Bhonsle.
Composed in melodious tunes, the track emerges as a special track for music lovers. Sapnon Mein
is a love song. A closer ear at the song reveals the fact that the number could top the charts in the days
to come. Lyrics by Faaiz Anwar are marvelous, which show the amount of love the lyricist has
for poetry. Asha Bhonsle sings it in her trademark style. Milind Sagar's rhythmical
composition signifies the creativity, he possesses.
There enters into the scene, Gungunati Hai---a duet by Udit Narayan and
Asha Bhonsle; Another melodious love song of the album, which lives up to the
expectations of the listeners. Together they both (Asha and Udit) render the
song in their usual style and cook up the number as a special dish for their millions of fans with
all required spices. Faaiz's lyrics personify the mood of the song in an accurate manner.
Whereas, Sagar's composition fills the bill. The song will make its mark and sink in the
hearts of the listeners soon. A wide use of instrumentation like guitar and violins makes the
number stupendous. The track will stay with the listeners for a longer period.
Next unzips itself, Rang Raliyan-a classical track. Rendered by Asha Bhonsle, the song
is a very special gift for the people who have a brain to understand the classical tunes. But for the
common listeners, it also has a hearing effect on them. That's the quality of the song. Asha
catches the classical tunes brilliantly with her years and years of experience. The creative piece of
poetry (lyrics) by Faaiz clearly depicts his brilliant head. Here with this track, Milind Sagar
seems as an experienced musician. He composed this classical song in a perfect style. And these kinds of
works will lead him to the heights soon and he will be standing amongst music giants like Ustad Sultan Khan,
Ustad Zakir Hussain, Ismail Darbar and others one day.
Baila Baila, comes as a dance number. It is another solo by Asha of this soundtrack.
Again Asha Bhonsle delivers it remarkably well. The song has a touch of Caribbean music,
which makes the listeners dance to the beats. Lyrics by Faaiz Anwar are appropriate. The
music is electric, showing the marvelous capability of a newborn composer.
The final track, Jaaneman, is a love song. Asha Bhonsle teams up with K.K
to deliver this number. And both the singers place themselves in the hands of a newborn musician,
Milind Sagar who then does the rest to produce a rhythmical love song. Faaiz
as a lyricist does well too.
On the whole, the soundtrack of Khwahish has a good music to enjoy in all moods and
deserves full attention but may go unnoticed due to its poor starcast.
