Year 2007 seems to be going Pritam’s way, the golden run of success that triggered with JUST MARRIED and HATTRICK made its way clear and sound with recently released KYA LOVE STORY HAI. Anurag Basu’s LIFE IN A…METRO (earlier titled METRO) proves to be another feather in his cap as he brings back the ardor and punch of his successful and much acclaimed WOH LAMHE, GANGSTER and ANKAHEE into fine pack of twelve original soundtracks. Pritam confides his trusted singers K.K and Bangladeshi pop sensation James in crooning out passionately flammable hard rock solo tracks. Even the fresh singing talents Suhail and Soham makes their presence felt in couple of impressive sentimental soundtracks. The album holds its biggest surprise in its pristinely immaculate lyrical work that fuels up the excruciating and impulsive volatile sentiments.

The nostalgia of contemplatively romantic emotions prevails as the concept of “One City, Countless Emotions” is voiced out with promising vocals, spirited hard rock music and meaningful lyrics in everlasting “In Dino”. Pritam’s lost in woods “Khawabon Ki” (MUDDA) promises another soul inspiration for this thematically inclined track with dash of Sufi rock zing. Promising singing talent Soham gives his best effort in building a castle of love nest for love struck emotions with expressively rendered lyrics. Sayed Quadri’s lyrics catapult temerity of pensive emotions with lines like “In Dino Dil Mere, Mujhse Hai Keh Raha, Tu Khwab Saja…” It’s disco time with echoing and pulsating rollicking beats that comes thundering and remixed (by Bunty Rajput) with sauntering paced vocals and music in loud and impressive “In Dino (Revisited)”.

The soft and squashy instrumental binge of “Nothing gonna change my love for you” (GLENN MEDERIOS) sprinkles the redolent whiff of eternal love as uproarious vocal thump of K.K makes things fanatically passionate in “Alvida”. Lyricist Sayed Quadri’s malodorously romantic lines “Chupke se kahin Dheeme paao se, Jane kis tarah Kis Ghadi, Aaghe badh gaye, Humse raahon mein Per tum to the yahin, Kuch bhi na suna Kab ka tha gila, Kaise keh diya Alvida” are expressively romantic to the core. K.K sings passionately by varying his vocal tonality to higher altitude as the song gist out the depressed, scornful emotions with loud pitched orchestration. It works as sequel to Pritam’s infectiously punched “Bheegi Bheegi” (GANGSTER) with commercially promising results. It’s Pritam’s favorite James at vocals in “Alvida (reprise)” that comes out as another “rebellious on move” from the self-styled hard rock band with intrinsically infectious guitar strumming and bombastic percussions. Simply Rocking!!!

Its mushy rhythm and blue’s musical mode that carries the love struck emotions with vocal sugariness, impressive lyrics and spirited musical zest in romantically bizarre “O Meri Jaan”. K.K shows his vocal flamboyance as he switches to higher tempo with changing tonality of the track. The track is graced by new lyricist Sandeep Srivastava’s expressive lyrical flow with lines like “Tu Aagaya Yun Nazar Mein, Jaise Subah Dopahar Mein, Madhoshi Yunhi Nahi, Dil Pe Chahi Hai…” Treasure it for lovely romantic night and surely it will brighten up the delightful proceedings. Besides maintaining good track record with KK, Pritam’s introduces another promising lyricist to the musical front with this number. Suhail, another extravagant prodigy impresses with his youthful singing allure in its second version with similar romantic zeal in “O Meri Jaan (Reprise)”.

Bangladeshi pop sensation James has surprises in store as he moves positively with expressively melodramatic soundtrack about changing “relationships” in the soundtrack “Rishtey”. The song scores maximum in connecting the narrative elements of the story with changing fortunes of the characters in Sayed Quadri’s meaningful lyrics “Ristey to nahi rishton ki parchaaiyaa mile, Yeh kaisi bheed bass yahaan tanhaayiyaan mile…” In terms of acceptance, it should find many takers among thoughtful listeners and surely it will be big catalyst for making it special in narration of thought provoking events. DJ Nikhil Chinnapa and DJ Naved tries to make mood wacky by enthralling this number with mixed bag of “club mix” disco fillers that give many reasons to shake leg in “Rishtey (Revisited)”.

Pritam promises to make it special show for lyricist as another impressive set of lyrics gives romantic jitters and feel of newly “discovered” love in strikingly impressive “Baatein Kuch Ankahee Si”. Adnan Sami gets another moment to cherish after “Dil Kya Kare” (SAALAM-E-ISHQ) and softens his vocal chord in delivering a nerve-racking romantic blue number. Its music has soul-stirring feel and intimidating impact of “Lamha Lamha” (GANGSTER) and “Ankahee” (ANKAHEE) with emotionally enriched lyrics. Once again its Sandeep Srivastava’s gifted lyrical works in lines “Baatein kuch ankaahe si, Kuch ann suni se honelagi, Kabu dil pe raha na, Hasti humari khone lagi,
Shaayad yehi hai Pyaar…” that works magically in creating an ambience of eternal love. This scintillating inspiring track finds its strong grounding as it get reproduced in two more versions. It’s lovable Suhail’s impressive unplugged vocals that give it a country music feel that stays on senses in the remarkably conceived “Baatein Kuch Ankahee Si (Unplugged)”. This soundtrack gets itself into trendy mode as DJ A Myth techno-wizardry shines brightest in disco beat culture listening feast in “Baatein Kuch Ankahi Si (Revisited)”.

Mediocrity plugs in the album with over-sappy situational track “Kar Saalam” that talk about optimism in life with cheerful vocals and enthused enthralling hard rock music feel. Pritam voices this number along with his two prodigies Suhail and Soham with traditional Maharastrian folksy musical base with average impact.

Pritam promising a rock band show all the way as the album props up as hard rock party album with couple of soul-stirring numbers. It will be listening pleasure for all poetic ears as lyricist Sayed Quadri, Amitabh Verma and new find Sandeep Srivastava conquers heart with their remarkable poetic intellect. LIFE IN A…METRO proves to be musical sequel to WOH LAMHE and GANGSTER and comes as welcome surprise for hard rock music buffs for its enchanting musical display.

Winner all the way!!!
