Expectations are not very high from Fox Star Studios's NEERJA, considering the fact that it's a biopic based on the life of flight attendant, Neerja Bhanot, who fought valiantly to save the lives (sacrificing her own!) of passengers from hijackers, and such subjects focus more on narrative and background scores. All the same let's check it out!

NEERJA WALLPAPERS
NEERJA WALLPAPERS

The first song, 'Aankhein Milayenge Dar Se', is quite a unique motivational rock based track with march past music being the highlight. Rockstar K. Mohun, along with a nice chorus and Neha Bhasin's convincing rap act, defying fear of death makes this a good one.

Prasoon Joshi's superb motivational lyrics (Hindi, Sanskrit and Urdu), that urge one to live life to the fullest, are the USP of 'Jeete Hain Chal'. Arun Ingle, Kavita Seth, R.N Iyer, Archana Gore and chorus render the song with conviction and grace.

Composer Shekhar Ravjiani makes his acting debut in NEERJA, and here he gets to render a superb sufi based soulful, soothing love song 'Gehra Ishq'. The highlight of the track is the qawwali part in between and music arrangements with harmonium, tabla and clap sounds.

Heart melts and one gets moist eyed listening to the emotional, 'Aisa Kyun Maa', which appears to be a background score with the lead protagonist missing her caring and comforting mother. Prasoon Joshi displays his class and composes a song based on Hindi vowels and alphabets; unique indeed.

To summarise, a short, terse album that consists of compositions that befit the narrative and are yet likeable and one must commend Vishal Khurana and Prasoon Joshi for the effort. 'Gehra Ishq' and 'Aisa Kyun Maa' are our picks. The songs should act as a plus for the film, which releases on 19th February.
