PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA 2, the quasi-sequel to the runway success, Luv Ranjan's PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA, warrants youthful, fresh and humorous compositions and one expects the experienced and young composers to do the needful.
One did enjoy Abhishek's 'Sharabi'
(HAPPY NEW YEAR) and the Sharib-Toshi composed 'Sharabi'
is in the same corridor; very enjoyable and highly rhythmic. The techno background music reminds of DON 2 signature tune. An ode to booze and heavy drunkards, the song has been sung well by the composers themselves and Raja Hasan (who renders the 'qawwali' portions). The lyrics by late Akram Sabri and Kumaar (with equally funny rap by Danish Sabri) are indeed rib tickling.
Kumaar's lyrics are indeed the highlight of 'Paro' composed by Hitesh Sonik and sung well by Dev Negi and Shipra Goyal. The propositioning number has abundant energy and zest and good rhythm and the hookline, 'Dil ab yaaron ka, ho gaya paro ka'
, is addictive. The song throws an insight into the character of the female leads.
The soft, soothing love ballad 'Heeriye'
(by Hitesh Sonik) is pleasant to the ears and rendered with ease by Mohit Chauhan, but the techno background rhythm and tune is so oft heard before that it does not exactly leave a lasting impression.
'Moorakh' carries the same spirit as 'Bhaag DK Bose'
and is rendered too in the same manner (rockish) by Divya Kumar. The situational number which is almost like a narrative (carrying the plot) contains an hilarious insight into the precarious (but humorous) situation of the male lead and will fit into the drama.
The audio of PKP 2 does not exactly match up to its predecessor which had some really interesting and youth pleasing songs. Most songs have a heard before feel. But two numbers, 'Sharabi'
have the potential to hit the charts and prove a plus for the film when it releases all over this Friday. Music Review Rating Chart :-
