One of India's oldest and prestigious production houses, Rajshri Productions' (led by Sooraj Barjatya) latest offering is a detective thriller and drama, SAMRAT & CO., rather unusual for the Rajshris who have since long been associated with family dramas. The music directors at the helm of affairs are AASHIQUI 2 sensations, Ankit Tiwari and Mithoon, along with Sandeep Shirodkar and Gopal, Anand and Pawan. So let's get set for a dilchasp (interesting) musical ride, courtesy Ankit & Co.
The composition that instantly sets up the mysterious mood is the racy and catchy 'Tequila Wakila
' decorated in a lovely Spanish (Latin American) style musical background settings of bass, drums, sax, trumpets and guitar. Shreya Ghoshal oozes oomph and is well supported by a good all male chorus (Ankit himself) which appears to be a stage performance number, as evident by the claps at the end of the song.
Lovely guitar strums and Chinmayee's velvety, dreamy vocals herald the very soft love ballad, 'Shukr Tera
' (by Mithoon) and is well supported by Arjit Singh. Mithoon keeps background musical arrangements (lovely violins, piano and guitar) to minimalistic proportions, almost like an unplugged version, to convey the message, and the tune that he chooses is fresh. CHECK OUT: Samrat & Co. - Songs Lyrics
', appears to be an entirely new sufi inspired love song but it later on fuses with the love ballad 'Shukr Tera
' which is intelligently and esthetically done, all kudos to the composer. The two singers (Chinmayee and Gajendra) combine well here and the end result is an altogether a new enchanting song.
Haunting pinao notes and bell sounds are a precursor to another mysterious type semi-philosophical composition 'Sawaalon Mein
' that asks questions about life and its unsolved puzzles. The song seems to be in the same corridor as songs like 'Gumnaam Hai Koi
' etc. Shreya is just perfect.
Benny Dayal introduces the main male lead, Samrat, the smart detective, through the title track, 'Samrat & Co
', and also provides a sneak peek into the very dilchasp rahasya
ride. The song is composed by Gopal, Anand and Pawan. Rajeev Khandelwal's smart one liners like kabhi kabhi suljhaane ke liye ulajhna padta hai
bring a smile with the way he delivers them.CHECK OUT: Bhaumik Sampat - Great to be a part of Rajshri's SAMRAT & CO
The theme song by Sandeep Shirodkar 'Samrat & Co
' is a superb musical instrumental that is racy with lots of techno gimmicks and orchestrations that thrill and will surely be used as a good background musical score during tense action and chase or thrilling sequences.
The audio of Rajshri's SAMRAT & CO is quite an enjoyable fare, a brief one but the tunes are fresh, youthful and vibrant and in sync with the script and mood of the film. 'Shukr Tera
' is our absolute favorite and the audio does have it to become popular. The good music along with Rajeev Khandelwal's popularity is likely to result in the film starting on a decent note when it releases all over on 25th April, 2014.
