SINGHAM RETURNS, the sequel to the highly successful SINGHAM, marks the return of super hit team of actor-director duo, Ajay Devgn and Rohit Shetty. The Ajay Devgn Films and Rohit Shetty Productions venture boasts of music by a host of much-in-demand and in vogue composers like Jeet Gangulli, Meet Bros Anjjan, Yo Yo Honey Singh and Ankit Tiwari etc. So one does expect them to come up with a chartbusting album which should not be a problem keeping their excellent track record in mind.
Lovely piano notes herald a heartfelt prepositioning number, 'Sun Le Zara'
(lyrics Sandeep Nath) that is rendered in Arijit Singh's soulful vocals. The tune that Jeet chooses may be a heard before one, but the rockish crescendo where Arjit goes, 'Sun Le Zara'
, is the high point of the number that is just about average.
The title track of SINGHAM was highly popular due to its racy 'desi '
tandav type rhythm and the next number, 'Singham Returns Theme'
(lyrics Shabbir Ahmed) is a take- off on that and it starts much in the same way. But when Meet Bros Anjjan and Mika take over the song changes complexion slightly and takes a new route, more in sync with the current times. However it fails to create the same impact that the original Ajay-Atul's SINGHAM title track created.CHECK OUT: SINGHAM RETURNS songs lyrics
The 'Singham Returns Remix'
(MBA Swag) by Meet Bros Anjjan , featuring Mika Singh, is well done and makes for a good hear.
Ankit Tiwari's outing, 'Kuchh Toh Hua Hai'
(lyrics by Sandeep Nath and Abhendra Kumar Upadhyay) is a soft rock love ballad that has a good tune and lovely arrangements, unfortunately spoilt by Ankit's pathetic diction. Tulsi Kumar is heard after a while and she does very well.
'Aata Majhi Satakli'
is certainly the chartbuster that composers (also singers) Yo Yo Honey Singh, Mamta Sharma and Nitu Choudhary provide through a vibrant and racy tune (slightly similar to Yo Yo's 'Lungi Dance'
, in chorus) . The lyrics (Yo Yo and Sachin Pathak) are inspired by Ajay Devgn's very popular Marathi dialogue from SINGHAM, 'Aata Majhi Satakli'
, and it was a good idea on part of the makers to convert it into a song.CHECK OUT: SINGHAM RETURNS Movie Dialogues
To sum up, SINGHAM RETURNS album is at best functional as extra emphasis has been made to provide chartbusters. But apart from 'Aata Majhi Satakli'
, the songs do not leave a lasting impression (like Ajay-Atul did with the audio of SINGHAM). One just wonders why the composer duo, who excelled in the first edition, were changed in the first place. Having said that, the ordinary audio will in no way hamper the super opening of SINGHAM RETURNS, though even a half decent musical score would have added 'chaar chand' to the film.Music Review Rating Chart :-
