The war begins now at box office. Five movies based on life story on Bhagat Singh to be released soon. The Legend of Bhagat Singh one of the mega movies is directed by Rajkumar Santoshi. Ajay Devgan who won accolades for his performance in Company plays Bhagat Singh in this movie. The music too is by A. R. Rahman who is now also composing music for foreign films.

Mera Rang de Basanti a traditional Punjabi song which was sung by Bhagat Singh on his way to execution. Sonu Nigam & Manmohan Waris have rendered the movie version. Rahman’s music lacks the Punjabi touch, however the song is soulful. Manmohan Waris provides a good support to Sonu Nigam.

Pagdi Sambhal Jatta a Punjabi Bhangra song by Sukhwinder. The fast song is different that the Bhangra songs we hear in movies, is very traditional, and goes with the time in which the movie is set. The album would gain popularity as a dance number.

Mahive Mahive a love song rendered by Alka Yagnik & Udit Narayan. Rahman provides a classic touch to the song with a soft & sweet melodious music.

Safaroshi ki tamanna a fast patriotic song. Sonu excellent singing arouses patriotic feelings. The song has a second version, which is slow. Hariharan joins Sonu Nigam for this slow classical song. The song slowly gains pace and one would enjoy the tablas.

Dil Se Niklege is a slow number by Sukhwinder. Sukhwinder sings this slow number. Sukhwinder sings the same along with A. R. Rahman. The song is titled Desh Mere Desh. The fast number is has some Rahman type music, but is nice to hear. The song changes mood from a sudden fast war like pace to a soft one.

Shora So Pahchaniye is a fast, intense patriotic song by Karthik, Raquib & Sukhwinder. The song gathers momentum and concludes with cheers of “Inqualab Zindabad”.

Kasam tumko watan is another version of Desh Mere Desh. The slow song is by Sukhwinder.

Jogiya Jogiya is the second love song in the whole album. Alka Yagnik & Udit Narayan lend their voices to this song. The song is nice to hear, but Mahive Mahive is much better.

Being a patriotic movie, the songs except two are all patriotic. Most of the songs are situational and would appeal more on the screen. Rahman does an excellent job on the backgrounds by giving a classical touch to the songs. The songs are not for the masses but the album is worth buying.
