Expectations are not very high from the audio of multiple award winning film, WAITING, produced by Ishka and Drishyam films boasting of an ensemble cast. Experienced composer Mickey McCleary wields the baton in the music department.
Crisps guitar strings and soft, subdued singing by Anushka Manchanda, with back up whispering chorals by Nikhil D'Souza, commences 'Tu Hai Toh Main Hoon'
. The song is almost unplugged and sung in a chorus like manner with soft rock arrangements in the background. A song about life love and laugh as the tagline of the film goes.
It's back to the swinging sixties with the rock and roll magic of yore, 'Got My Eyes On You'
sung exuberantly by the composer. It's an all English dance number that does have the touch that makes one jive and should liven things up for the audience .
The theme song, 'Waiting For You'
, is a soft, mellifluous love song that is another all English number that is in sync with the script of the movie. Anushka does a cool job and the composer too chips in with his controlled and emotive rendition.
Kavita Seth and Vishal Dadlani pair up for a situational number, 'Zara Zara'
, that has semi-philosophical undertones and quite fits in with the story and almost acts as a narrative. Should find a place as a background score. Lyrics are quite touching and very apt.
Summing up, the audio of WAITING is situational and songs may make a mark only after the release of the film, although one expected Mickey to come up with some more soulful and catchy songs, that carry forward the theme. Our picks- 'Tu Hai Toh Main Hoon'
and 'Got My Eyes On You'
. WAITING releases all over this Friday. Music Review Rating Chart :-
