An MBA by education, but a broadcaster at heart, Harish Bhimani set
up his production unit, soon after he gave his up high-powered corporate
position.
As a radio broadcaster of significance, Harish is credited with conceiving,
writing, presenting and producing close to 1,500 innovative radio shows, which
have been broadcast in countries wherever Indians live. He recently concluded a
53-part,1-hr Saturday-evening radio show series on London's Sunrise radio, is one
of the most popular according to recent surveys.
Several of his radio commercials and shows have won awards and clients.
Starting out as the most-preferred newscaster on the Bombay TV and a stage
compère, he was drawn to dialogue-writing for the highly-acclaimed TV serial
KHANDAAN and went on to write screenplay and dialogue for
SUBAH, SUKANYA, GRAHAN and INKAAR,
apart from numerous ads, corporate films and innovative radio shows.
He has made a mark in the
field of voice-recordings: documentary, audio-visuals, radio and TV commercials
- the 'Samay' of the epic having made him a household name, besides innumerable
voice-overs.
He has written, produced and directed, TV serials, documentaries,
corporate films, TV features, promos, TV commercials etc.. In addition to this he
has written and presented 30 episodes of YOGA FOR BETTER LIVING broadcasted
over DD, written & presented QUICKSAND (on Bonded Labour) which won President's
medal for the year's best documentary & co-wrote an recorded a
one-hour film A PILGRIMAGE TO KHAJURAHO.
What stands out as a work of permanence, from the incisive
punch-lines and selling-within-seconds scripts, is the the biography of Lata
Mangeshkar, IN SEARCH OF LATA MANGESHKAR - and published
by Harper Collins - which he took seven years to complete, amidst the daily
grind of deadlines.
Easily the most-travelled Indian broadcaster, he has compèred concerts of most
major Indian artistes around (in 23 countries) the world including
several classical maestros. He is the only broadcaster to have been awarded a
gold disc by HMV. An adept interviewer and a show host, ('MONEY TALK
PLUS', 'MUJHE PEHCHANO'). His guests include, 'big bull'
Harshad Mehta, Shiv Sena supremo Bal Thakerey, industrialist Aditya Birla,
apart from several film stars.
He has served as a member of the advisory panel of the Central Board
of Film Censors.
He has enjoyed reading several books in the talking book studio of the
National Association for the Blind, for less fortunate friends
the world over.
