With Kamal Haasan's VISHWAROOP having been postponed, the major release of the week will be Vishal Bhardwaj's Pankaj, Shabana, Imran and Anushka starrer, MATRU KI BIJLEE KA MANDOLA. Given the good promotion and reasonably popular music, the film is expected to embark on a decent start (good at select multiplexes).

The other two listed releases of the week, GANGOOBAI and PYAAR MEIN AISA HOTA HAI, are likely to lag behind MATRU KI BIJLEE KA MANDOLA, as far as the opening is concerned.

Meanwhile from the bunched releases of last week, it was just the Rajeev, Tena and Paresh starrer, TABLE NO.21 that managed a decent show. The rest of the films – DEHRAADUN DIARY, MERI SHADI KARAO and RAJDHANI EXPRESS – POINT BLANK JUSTICE, saw a poor to weak start(s), and failed to make any impact.

Coming back to TABLE NO. 21, after a dull to decent start the film saw some pick up, netting close to 6 crore during the opening weekend. Given the fact that TABLE NO. 21 has a very reasonable budget and the Fiji government has further subsidized the costs, the film is all set to be a success, more so due to the steady weekdays. The film has grossed ?19,250 from UK and $32,000 from the US during the opening weekend (4-6 January).
