This Friday is all set to see multiple releases in the form of Wilson Louis's KAALO, the Archangel Entertainer project PAYBACK, the Vinay Shukla directed MIRCH and last but not the least K Sera Sera and Sangeeth Sivan Productions' 332…MUMBAI TO INDIA. Unfortunately, none of the mentioned releases are expected to achieve anything significant at the ticket window and the audience is likely to prefer last Friday's NO PROBLEM and BAND BAAJA BAARAAT.

The openings of both the new releases of last Friday, Yash Raj Films' BAND BAAJA BAARAAT and Anees Bazmee's multistarrer NO PROBLEM left a lot to be desired as it varied from weak to dull. Comparatively speaking NO PROBLEM fared much better than BBB, especially in the Hindi belt. There was a noticeable pick up for both the films during the weekend but the jump was more pronounced for BAND BAAJA BAARAAT. Trade expects that in the final outcome the low budget BAND BAAJA BAARAAT will see a better outcome. In the Overseas, once again the performance of both was below par but NO PROBLEM was the clear winner grossing ?114,652 from UK and $242,116 from US while BAND BAAJA BAARAAT grossed ?23,874 from UK, during the opening weekend (10-12 December).

The collections of Ashutosh Gowariker's KHELEIN HUM JEE JAAN SEY have a sad story to tell about a very prestigious project. During the opening week KHJJS collected 70 lakhs from Bombay (collections from 44 cinemas unreceived), 21.60 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 3.10 lakhs from Baroda, 2 lakhs from Rajkot, 1.25 lakhs from Jamnagar, 6.50 lakhs from Pune (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 2.25 lakhs each from Nasik and Goa, 1 lakh from Belgaum, 55 lakhs from Delhi city, 8.40 lakhs from Noida, 4.55 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 3 lakhs from Kanpur, 6.65 lakhs from Lucknow, 3 lakhs from Allahabad, 13.25 lakhs from Gurgaon, 4 lakhs from Faridabad, 2 lakhs from Chandigarh, 18.50 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 1.50 lakhs from Siliguri, 1 lakh from Guwahati, 4 lakhs from Nagpur, 1 lakh from Jabalpur, 3.25 lakhs from Raipur, 6.20 lakhs from Indore, 1 lakh from Bhopal, 4.55 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 2 lakhs from Kota, 8.75 lakhs from Hyderabad (collections from other cinemas unreceived),1.50 lakhs each from Aurangabad and Latur, 16.35 lakhs from Bangalore, 1.50 lakhs from Vishakhapatnam and 3.15 lakhs from Madras. Netting just about 5 crores during its first week, the Abhishek-Deepika starrer is an unmitigated disaster. The film has also been rejected in the Overseas grossing a paltry ?20,933 from UK till the second weekend (10-12 December).

Adding a further 2.50 crores, the Imran-Deepika starrer, BREAK KE BAAD, has netted a very ordinary 17.25 crores in two weeks from India. The film is a failure but the makers will get into profit zone, thanks to pre-selling most non theatrical rights. The film is also an Overseas failure grossing ?171,282 from UK till the third weekend (10-12 December) and $310,329 from US.
