This Friday will see the release of Ramesh Sippy’s SONALI CABLE and the Hemant Madhukar directed MUMBAI 125 KMS. As the films are releasing a week before HAPPY NEW YEAR, the new releases are likely to be ignored by the audience, who will prefer to wait for the upcoming blockbuster.

As expected, the multiple releases of last week- JIGARIYAA, EKKEES TOPPON KI SALAAMI, TAMANCHEY and SPARK – could not make a mark at the box-office as the older ventures like BANG BANG! and HAIDER and to a lesser extent KHOOBSURAT remained the first choice.

Moving on, Hrithik-Katrina’s BANG BANG! managed a good first week (though it should have been more, given the hype & holidays) as it collected 7.55 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 2.50 crore from Ahmedabad, 45 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 7 cinemas unreceived), 71 lakhs from Surat, 68.50 lakhs from Rajkot, 2.15 crore from Pune, 38.65 lakhs from Nasik, 26 lakhs from Goa, 14 lakhs from Belgaum, 7 crore from Delhi city, 1 crore from Noida, 1.50 crore from Ghaziabad, 72.50 lakhs from Kanpur, 1.35 crore from Lucknow, 14.75 lakhs from Agra, 23.65 lakhs from Allahabad, 3 lakhs from Aligarh, 1.25 crore from Gurgaon, 29.50 lakhs from Faridabad, 17.25 lakhs from Panipat, 50 lakhs from Chandigarh, 34.50 lakhs from Jalandhar, 31.20 lakhs from Amritsar, 40.15 lakhs from Ludhiana, 14 lakhs from Bhatinda, 2.65 crore from Calcutta, 6.75 lakhs from Darjeeling, 30.15 lakhs from Siliguri, 9 lakhs from Patna, 24.15 lakhs from Dhanbad, 13.50 lakhs from Ranchi, 24 lakhs from Bhubaneshwar, 5.50 lakhs from Guwahati, 75 lakhs from Nagpur, 39.50 lakhs from Jabalpur, 44 lakhs from Raipur, 85 lakhs from Indore (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 17.55 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 60 lakhs from Bhopal (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 3 crore from Jaipur, 23.50 lakhs from Ajmer, 8 lakhs from Bikaner, 29 lakhs from Kota, 28.25 lakhs from Udaipur, 2.60 crore from Hyderabad, 21.50 lakhs from Aurangabad (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 2.65 crore from Bangalore, 19.65 lakhs from Mangalore, 14.25 lakhs from Vijayawada, 23.50 lakhs from Visakhapatnam, 11 lakhs from Madras, 3.50 lakhs from Coimbatore and 13 lakhs from Kochi. Netting 120 crore (excluding dubbed versions) during the opening week (8-days), the huge budgeted (130-140 crore- all inclusive) BANG BANG! has to show strong legs in the coming days to emerge a success. BANG BANG! is an overseas blockbuster grossing $11.30m with £990,000 from UK and $2,250,000 from the US, till the second weekend (10-12 October).
