This week's new releases include Hrishita Bhatt's SHAKAL PE MAT JA, NA JAANE KAB SE and Salt N Pepper Entertainment and Pandora Box's CUTTING CHAI. Barring to an extent SHAKAL PE MAT JAA (thanks to some intelligent promos) the rest of the scheduled releases (including dubbed) will be no match for the still strong ROCKSTAR, which will once again be the audience's first preference this weekend.
The good opening of Ranbir Kapoor's Imtiaz Ali directed ROCKSTAR was never in doubt but the stable collections on the following days were like the icing on the cake. The film netted a handsome 34-35 crore during the opening weekend and is sustaining well on the weekdays too, especially at the multiplexes! ROCKSTAR has also done very well in the overseas grossing ?185,000 from UK and $612,235 from the US during the opening weekend (11-13 November).
From the new releases it was just the Govinda-Mahakshay starrer LOOT that held some appeal for the audience. The film collected 50 lakhs from Bombay (collections from 30 cinemas unreceived), 21.56 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 5 lakhs from Surat, 3.65 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 1.35 lakhs from Bharuch, 4 lakhs from Rajkot, 2.15 lakhs from Pune, 3 lakhs from Nasik, 1.25 lakhs from Goa, 10 lakhs from Delhi city, 5 lakhs from Noida, 6.70 Lakhs from Ghaziabad, 5.75 lakhs from Kanpur, 4.25 lakhs from Lucknow, 2.15 lakhs from Agra, 1.15 lakhs from Allahabad, 5 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1.10 lakhs from Faridabad, 1 lakh from Kurukshetra, 2 lakhs from Panipat, 1.65 lakhs from Chandigarh, 1.35 lakhs from Jalandhar, 1 lakh from Ludhiana, 5.15 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 4 lakhs from Nagpur, 1.65 lakhs from Jabalpur, 1.65 lakhs from Amravati, 4.15 lakhs from Raipur, 3.20 lakhs from Indore, 1 lakh from Gwalior (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 1 lakh from Bhopal (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 10.75 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 2 lakhs from Ajmer, 1.35 lakhs from Bikaner, 3.55 lakhs from Kota, 1.50 lakhs from Udaipur, 4.20 lakhs from Aurangabad (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 2.10 lakhs from Latur, 2 lakhs from Bangalore and 1 lakh from Mangalore. Netting a so-so 3.50 crore during the opening week LOOT has failed commercially but has escaped but with minimal losses, thanks to Govinda's still intact mass appeal and Mahakshay's new HAUNTED fan base!
Meanwhile MILEY NAA MILEY HUM had a poor start as the film was rejected from the first show itself. During the week MILEY NAA MILEY HUM collected 15 lakhs from Bombay (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 6 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 1.35 lakhs from Surat, 1 lakh from Baroda, 1 lakh from Nasik, 8.15 lakhs from Delhi city, 1 lakh from Noida, 1.65 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 1.65 lakhs from Lucknow, 1.50 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1 lakh from Nagpur, 1 lakh from Raipur and 1.25 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived). Netting around 75 lakhs during the opening week from India, MILEY NAA MILEY HUM is a trade disaster.
Concluding with Shahrukh Khan's Anubhav Sinha directed, RA.ONE, the collections crashed in the second week, but that comes as no surprise as all the 100 crore plus netters of 2011 have fared the same way! During the week RA.ONE collected 1.75 crore from Bombay (collections from 37 cinemas unreceived), 50 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 8.65 lakhs from Surat, 13 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 6 cinemas unreceived), 2.15 lakhs from Bharuch, 15 lakhs from Rajkot, 2.55 lakhs from Bhavnagar, 27 lakhs from Pune, 11 lakhs from Nasik, 6.35 lakhs from Goa, 1.60 crores from Delhi city, 25 lakhs from Noida, 12 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 17.35 lakhs from Kanpur, 30 lakhs from Lucknow, 7 lakhs from Agra, 8.35 lakhs from Allahabad, 3 lakhs from Aligarh, 30 lakhs from Gurgaon, 5.35 lakhs from Faridabad, 1.20 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 2.20 lakhs from Panipat, 6 lakhs from Chandigarh, 4 lakhs from Jalandhar, 3.35 lakhs from Ludhiana, 55 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 1.15 lakhs from Darjeeling, 5 lakhs from Siliguri, 3.20 lakhs from Guwahati, 15.50 lakhs from Nagpur, 5.50 lakhs from Jabalpur, 3.35 lakhs from Amravati, 9.10 lakhs from Raipur, 10.65 lakhs from Indore, 3 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 11.35 lakhs from Bhopal (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 50 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 1.50 lakhs from Jodhpur (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 6.25 lakhs from Ajmer, 2 lakhs from Bikaner, 8 lakhs from Kota, 6.50 lakhs from Udaipur, 45 lakhs from Hyderabad, 8 lakhs from Aurangabad (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 3.55 lakhs from Latur, 40 lakhs from Bangalore, 6 lakhs from Mangalore, 2 lakhs from Vijayawada, 2.55 lakhs from Visakhapatnam, 7 lakhs from Madras and 7 lakhs from Kochi. Adding another 14.75 crores, RA.ONE has netted a huge 114.75 crores in two week from India. Additionally the dubbed (Tamil and Telugu) versions have netted another 6.50 crore and so RA.ONE is a semi-hit for its worldwide distributor EROS International, after accounting for the pre-release non-theatrical rights and also sundry earnings. In the overseas (the collections have fallen heavily) RA.ONE is the biggest Bollywood hit of 2011 grossing ? 1,388,000 from UK and $ 2,444,000 from the US till the third weekend (11-13 November).
