The upcoming premier releases of the week include, Mohit Suri's HALF GIRLFRIEND, T-Series' HINDI MEDIUM and Saint Gurmeet Ram Rahim Singh Ji Insaan's JATTU ENGINEER etc. While the front runner will obviously be Arjun-Shraddha's HALF GIRLFRIEND, Irfaan Khan's HINDI MEDIUM will be patronized by high end multiplex audiences of metros and A- centres. The third release of the week, JATTU ENGINEER will see some initial patronage by the saint's followers, as always. Having said that, the two week old BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION will still prove to be a significant opponent to the new releases.
The two prominent releases of last week, Ram Gopal Varma's SARKAR 3 and Yash Raj Films' MERI PYAARI BINDU failed to cut much ice with the audience, as BAAHUBALI 2: THE CONCLUSION(Hindi) continued to remain their first choice.
Coming to the Amitabh Bachchan starrer, SARKAR 3, the film could not achieve much at the box-office, netting 7.50 crore during the opening weekend, and it could not even match up to the previous edition SARKAR RAJ, which released way back in 2008.
The second release, YRF's Parineeti-Ayushmaan starrer, MERI PYAARI BINDU, the film managed a poor 7 crore during the initial weekend. The film will just about be a coverage fare, given that about 70 percent of the 22-23 crore investment has been recovered via non-theatrical rights, the poor theatrical run notwithstanding.
Concluding yet again with the S.S. Rajamouli directed BAAHUBALI 2 : THE CONCLUSION (Hindi), after a huge and record breaking opening week (247 crore), the film established another record, managing the best ever second week as it collected 15.25 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unrecieved), 5.75 crore from Ahmedabad, 1.25 crore from Baroda, 2.55 crore from Surat, 1.50 crore from Rajkot, 5.75 crore from Pune, 1.15 crore from Nasik, 80.50 lakhs from Goa, 30 lakhs from Belgaum, 11.50 crore from Delhi city, 2.50 crore from Noida, 2.15 crore from Ghaziabad, 1.50 crore from Kanpur, 2.50 crore from Lucknow, 75.85 lakhs from Agra, 51.15 lakhs from Allahabad, 18.20 lakhs from Aligarh, 85.50 lakhs from Dehradun, 3 crore from Gurgaon, 1.30 crore from Faridabad, 17 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 25.50 lakhs from Panipat, 90 lakhs from Chandigarh, 66.15 lakhs from Jalandhar, 25.75 lakhs from Patiala, 67.50 from Amritsar, 80 lakhs from Ludhiana, 21 lakhs from Bhatinda, 15 lakhs from Ambala, 8.55 lakhs from Shimla, 8.50 lakhs from Jammu, 4 crore from Calcutta, 9 lakhs from Darjeeling, 50.55 lakhs from Siliguri, 65.25 lakhs from Patna, 35 lakhs from Dhanbad, 80 lakhs from Ranchi, 45.15 lakhs Bhubaneshwar, 12.65 lakhs from Guwahati, 1.50 crore from Nagpur, 1.25 crore from Raipur, 2.50 crore from Indore, 50 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 4 cinemas unrecieved), 1.65 crore from Bhopal (collections from 3 cinemas unrecieved), 4 crore from Jaipur, 75 lakhs from Jodhpur, 43.25 lakhs from Ajmer, 20.25 lakhs from Bikaner, 60 lakhs from Kota, 65.50 from Udaipur, 70 lakhs from Hyderabad, 80.15 lakhs from Aurangabad, 3 crore from Bangalore, 26.15 lakhs from Mangalore, 20 lakhs from Mysore, 2.50 lakhs from Vijayawada and 15 lakhs from Visakhapatnam. Adding another 141 crore, BAAHUBALI 2 (Hindi) has netted an astonishing 388 crore in two weeks from India. Not only is BAAHUBALI 2 : THE CONCLUSION (Hindi) an all time blockbuster but has also beaten the biggest ever record of Aamir Khan's DANGAL, and that in just two weeks.
BAAHUBALI 2 : THE CONCLUSION is also an all time overseas blockbuster grossing nearly $32m with £1,210,000 from UK and $18,974,000 from the US, till the third weekend (12-14 May).
