Bollywood Box Office Report Of The Week: 19 july 2019

Adv.

This Friday’s major releases include Rishi Kapoor’s JHOOTA KAHIN KA, Siddhant Madhav directed K PENALTY and Jimmy Sheirgill starrer FAMILY OF THAKURGANJ. While none of the new releases are expected to set the box-office on fire, the last mentioned , FAMILY OF THAKURGANJ, may appeal to the hinterland. Having said that Hollywood’s  animated THE LION KING (dubbed) may see it’s loyal fans (families and kids) patronising it.

Coming to the older release, T-Series’ and Bhansali Productions’ MALAAL, the film saw an outright rejection netting just around 2.75 crore during the opening week from India and is a trade debacle.

Last week’s major release, Nadiadwala Grandsons & Reliance Entertainment’s  Vikas Bahl directed Hrithik Roshan starrer, SUPER 30,  started on a sombre note (11 crore), but witnessed an amazing pick up, ending the opening weekend netting 50 crore and maintained very well during the weekdays. The opening week is likely to end up around the 75 crore mark,  and given the handsome recoveries from the non-theatrical rights (75-80 crore), the film is on way to a creditable semi-hit, if not hit! SUPER 30 has also done well (given the genre) in the overseas grossing $2.30m with  £100,000 from UK and $871,000  from the US, during the opening weekend (12-14 July).
