This Friday’s major releases include Shemaroo Entertainment’s HUNTERRR, Ab Infosoft Creation DOZAKH IN SEARCH OF HEAVEN and Jap Films’ DILLIWAALI ZAALIM GIRLFRIEND. As things stand, thanks to some catchy music and innovative promotion, the front runner is likely to be DILLIWAALI ZAALIM GIRLFRIEND.

The prominent release of last week, Anushka Sharma’s NH10, started on a somewhat somber note, but picked up steam on the following days, netting a creditable 13.50 crore during the opening weekend. The film is also maintaining well during the weekdays, and if it continues to hold, NH10 may end up as a successful debut for Anushka Sharma!

Moving on, the Mallika Sherawat starrer, DIRTY POLITICS, could not make a mark except at some single screen cinemas collecting 50 lakhs from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 20 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 4.15 lakhs from Surat, 3 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 5.15 lakhs from Rajkot, 5 lakhs from Pune, 1.75 lakhs from Nasik, 50 lakhs from Delhi city, 5 lakhs from Noida, 7 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 8.50 lakhs from Kanpur, 13.50 lakhs from Lucknow, 3.15 lakhs from Agra, 3.50 lakhs from Allahabad, 1.75 lakhs from Aligarh, 5 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1.75 lakhs from Faridabad, 1.50 lakhs from Panipat, 3.15 lakhs from Chandigarh, 1.25 lakhs from Jalandhar, 2.50 lakhs from Amritsar, 2.50 lakhs from Ludhiana, 1.50 lakhs from Bhatinda, 10 lakhs from Calcutta, 10 lakhs from Nagpur, 5 lakhs from Raipur, 15 lakhs from Indore, 1.50 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 5 lakhs from Bhopal (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 25 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 7 cinemas unreceived), 2.50 lakhs from Jodhpur (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 4.50 lakhs from Ajmer, 2 lakhs from Kota, 2 lakhs from Udaipur, 20 lakhs from Hyderabad, 1.50 lakhs from Aurangabad, 5 lakhs from Bangalore, 1 lakh from Mangalore and 1.50 lakhs from Visakhapatnam. Netting 6 crore during the opening week, DIRTY POLITICS will struggle for recovery.

The other release of the week, HEY BRO, managed just around 1.25 crore during the first week and is a washout. The remaining release, BADMASHIYAAN-FUN NEVER ENDS, managed around 75 lakhs in the first week and is an unmitigated disaster.

Meanwhile Yash Raj Films’ very reasonably costing (15 crore all inclusive) venture, DUM LAGA KE HAISHA, saw a rock steady second week as it collected 2 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 30 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 7.15 lakhs from Surat, 5.50 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 3.15 lakhs from Rajkot, 30 lakhs from Pune, 3.65 lakhs from Nasik, 1.25 lakhs from Belgaum, 1.75 crore from Delhi city, 22 lakhs from Noida, 18 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 9 lakhs from Kanpur, 15 lakhs from Lucknow, 2 lakhs from Agra, 2.50 lakhs from Allahabad, 1 lakh from Aligarh, 35 lakhs from Gurgaon, 7.25 lakhs from Faridabad, 2 lakhs from Panipat, 11.50 lakhs from Chandigarh, 3.65 lakhs from Jalandhar, 3.15 lakhs from Amritsar, 5.50 lakhs from Ludhiana, 2 lakhs from Bhatinda, 45 lakhs from Calcutta, 3.50 lakhs from Siliguri, 3 lakhs from Dhanbad, 2 lakhs from Ranchi, 4.50 lakhs from Bhubaneshwar, 1.50 lakhs from Guwahati, 10 lakhs from Nagpur, 10 lakhs from Raipur, 20 lakhs from Indore, 5 lakhs from Gwalior, 10.50 lakhs from Bhopal, 20 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 1 lakh from Jodhpur, 2 lakhs from Ajmer, 2.50 lakhs from Kota, 3.50 lakhs from Udaipur, 25 lakhs from Hyderabad, 2.65 lakhs from Aurangabad, 45 lakhs from Bangalore, 1.25 lakhs from Mangalore, 1.75 lakhs from Visakhapatnam and 2 lakhs from Kochi. Adding another 10 crore, DUM LAGA KE HAISHA has netted 20.50 crore in two weeks from India and is a hit, given the fact that DLKH already has a good satellite price (8 crore) in its kitty and is still to release in the overseas.

Concluding with the Sriram Raghavan directed Nawazuddin, Varun, Huma and Yami starrer, BADLAPUR, the film saw another productive week as it collected 75 lakhs from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 15 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 3.50 lakhs from Surat, 2.50 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 1.50 lakhs from Rajkot, 15 lakhs from Pune, 2 lakhs from Nasik, 40 lakhs from Delhi city, 6.50 lakhs from Noida, 3.50 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 2.50 lakhs from Kanpur, 7.50 lakhs from Lucknow, 10 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1.50 lakhs from Faridabad, 1.50 lakhs from Chandigarh, 1.25 lakhs from Jalandhar, 1.15 lakhs from Amritsar, 1.50 lakhs from Ludhiana, 15 lakhs from Calcutta, 1.50 lakhs from Siliguri, 1 lakh from Dhanbad, 3.50 lakhs from Nagpur, 2.55 lakhs from Raipur, 5 lakhs from Indore, 1.50 lakhs from Gwalior( collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 2.50 lakhs from Bhopal, 10 lakhs from Jaipur, 1 lakh from Udaipur, 10 lakhs from Hyderabad, 1.50 lakhs from Aurangabad, 15 lakhs from Bangalore and 1.50 lakhs from Kochi. With another 3.75 crore, BADLAPUR has netted 50.75 crore in three weeks from India and is a semi-hit, given the moderate investment (all inclusive 25 crore cost), and the (expected) non-theatrical rights. BADLAPUR has also done well in the overseas grossing nearly $2m with £ 90,000 from UK and $ 410,000 from the US.
