This week is all set to welcome the film that will in all probabilities be the biggest from now till the end of the year 2010, and end up as the biggest grosser of the year as well.

Obviously we are referring to Rakesh Roshan's Anurag Basu directed KITES! Expected to release at round 2300 screens globally, the Hrithik Roshan, Barbara Mori and Kangna Ranaut starrer KITES is all set to embark on an earth shattering start and perhaps one of the biggest opening week (7-days) in the history of Bollywood.

The film is also expected to do great in the Overseas as well.

Last week's new releases included ADMISSIONS OPEN, KUSHTI, DO DILON KE KHEL MEIN and BUMM BUMM BOLE. The opening varied from pathetic to dull and went from bad to worse as the week progressed. Comparatively speaking the Priyadarshan directed Darsheel Safary starrer BUMM BUMM BOLE was somewhat decent at a handful of cinemas during the initial run but still not good enough to be classified even as a safe film. With KITES releasing this Friday, the future looks bleak for the week old releases and even the recent successes like HOUSEFULL and BADMAASH COMPANY will have their task cut out.

Moving on Yash Raj's Parmeet Sethi directed BADMAASH COMPANY did fair business in the first week and had a reasonably good second weekend as well, as there was no major release. The film collected 4 crores from Bombay (collections from 5 cinemas unrecieved), 88.75 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 12.25 lakhs from Baroda, 7 lakhs from Surat, 2.60 lakhs each from Nadiad and Bharuch, 1.50 lakhs each from Vapi and Patan, 3.35 lakhs from Valsad, 2.15 lakhs from Bardoli, 10.25 lakhs from Rajkot, 4.15 lakhs from Jamnagar, 5 lakhs from Bhavnagar, 2.50 lakhs from Bhuj, 3.65 lakhs from Gandhidham, 25 lakhs from Pune, 3 lakhs from Solapur, 2.05 lakhs from Sangli, 11 lakhs from Nasik, 8.50 lakhs from Goa, 4 lakhs from Hubli, 7 lakhs from Belgaum, 2.50 lakhs from Dharwad, 2.20 crores from Delhi city, 30 lakhs from Noida, 20 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 13.20 lakhs from Kanpur, 24 lakhs from Lucknow, 8.05 lakhs from Agra, 6.50 lakhs from Allahabad, 3.15 lakhs from Meerut, 2 lakhs from Muzzafarnagar, 1.50 lakhs from Mathura, 42 lakhs from Gurgaon, 17.10 lakhs from Faridabad, 15 lakhs from Chandigarh, 2.35 lakhs from Zirakpur, 2.05 lakhs from lakhs from Bhatinda, 4 lakhs from Ambala, 5.65 lakhs from Ludhiana, 4 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 5 lakhs from Panipat, 63.50 lakhs from Calcutta, 1.55 lakhs from Darjeeling, 3.75 lakhs from Siliguri, 3.30 lakhs from Guwahati, 25 lakhs from Nagpur, 7.25 lakhs from Jabalpur, 4.50 lakhs from Amravati, 2.20 lakhs from Akola, 2 lakhs from Dhule, 11.65 lakhs from Raipur, 2.05 lakhs from Chandrapur, 1.25 lakhs each from Wardha and Khandwa, 30.10 lakhs from Indore, 1.25 lakhs from Sehore, 5.65 lakhs from Bhopal, 1 lakh each from Ujjian and Dewas, 25 lakhs from Jaipur, 4.50 lakhs from Jodhpur, 4.10 lakhs from Ajmer, 2.65 lakhs from Bikaner, 8 lakhs from Kota, 1.35 lakhs from Sriganganagar, 66 lakhs from Hyderabad, 1.35 lakhs from Warnagal, 8.05 lakhs from Aurangabad, 2.15 lakhs from Nanded, 3.60 lakhs from Gulbarga, 49 lakhs from Bangalore, 6 lakhs from Mangalore, 2.35 lakhs from Vijaywada, 6 lakhs from Vishakhapatnam, 6 lakhs from Madras, 1.10 lakhs each from Madurai and Coimbatore and 2.65 lakhs from Kochi. Netting around 20.25 crore in its opening week, the Shahid-Anushka starrer BADMAASH COMPANY is already an average plus fare, which is expected to improve further. However the film has failed in the Overseas grossing ?105,729 from UK till the second weekend (14-16 May).

Unfortunately Gurinder Chadha's ITS A WONDERFUL AFTERLIFE (HAI MARJAWAAN! In Hindi) saw a poor run. The original version, ITS A WONDERFUL AFTERLIFE collected 25 lakhs from Bombay, 2.65 lakhs from Pune, 16.25 lakhs from Delhi city, 2.50 lakhs from Noida, 6 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1.75 lakhs from Chandigarh, 2.25 lakhs fom Calcutta, 3.50 lakhs from Hyderabad and 5.35 lakhs from Bangalore.

Both the versions combined netted just about 1.25 crore in its opening week from India and is trade debacle.

Concluding this week's report with Sajid Nadiadwala's HOUSEFULL, the film saw an expected big fall, which was inevitable due to the dropping of the extra first week shows that the multiplexes had added (on their own accord), in favour of BADMAASH COMPANY and of course the usual decline in numbers given the oversaturated release. In spite of that, the trade terms the second week performance of the film 'fair'. During the week HOUSEFULL collected 1.50 crores from Bombay (collections from 38 cinemas unreceived), 61 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 9.50 lakhs from Surat, 2.25 lakhs from Nadiad, 1.75 lakhs from Valsad, 2.20 lakhs from Bharuch, 2.50 lakhs from Bardoli, 1.65 lakhs from Palanpur, 1.35 lakhs from Patan, 12 lakhs from Rajkot, 4.65 lakhs from Jamnagar, 5.55 lakhs from Bhavnagar, 1.10 lakhs each from Morbi and Bhuj, 3.50 lakhs from Gandhidham, 14.25 lakhs from Pune, 1.35 lakhs from Solapur, 6.05 lakhs from Nasik, 5.65 lakhs from Goa, 5 lakhs each from Hubli and Belgaum, 1.20 lakhs from Dharwad, 1.65 crores from Delhi city, 17.15 lakhs from Noida, 15 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 17 lakhs from Kanpur, 26.55 lakhs from Lucknow, 6.05 lakhs from Agra, 5 lakhs from Allahabad, 2.30 lakhs from Meerut, 2 lakhs from Bareilly, 3.70 lakhs from Aligarh, 2.35 lakhs from Meerut, 1.50 lakhs from Mathura, 25.55 lakhs from Gurgaon, 11.55 lakhs from Faridabad, 13 lakhs from Chandigarh, 3 lakhs each from Zirakpur and Bhatinda, 5.65 lakhs from Ludhiana, 2.35 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 3.50 lakhs from Panipat, 2 lakhs from Pathankot, 40 lakhs from Calcutta, 2.55 lakhs from Siliguri, 1.10 lakhs from Darjeeling, 14.30 lakhs from Nagpur, 7 lakhs from Jabalpur, 3.30 lakhs from Amravati, 2.75 lakhs from Akola, 7.75 lakhs from Raipur, 1.50 lakhs from Durg, 1.25 lakhs from Ujjian, 31.50 lakhs from Jaipur, 4.65 lakhs from Jodhpur, 5 lakhs from Ajmer, 3 lakhs from Bikaner, 5.65 lakhs from Kota, 30.50 lakhs from Hyderabad, 7 lakhs from Aurangabad, 3 lakhs from Gulbarga, 33.50 lakhs from Bangalore, 4.05 lakhs from Mangalore, 1.50 lakhs from Vishakhatpatnam and 4 lakhs from Madras.
