Bollywood box-office report of the week : 19 may 2011

Adv.

This Friday will be less crowded as compared to the last one with just a couple of films listed for releases- 404 and PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA. From the two, it is PYAAR KA PUNCHNAMA which is expected to fare better as it is basically a Gen X film and a section of the trade expects it to succeed where LUV KA THE END failed. There is also Mukta Searchlight Films' KASHMAKASH, which is actually the dubbed NAUKADUBI.

Last week's four releases expectedly cut into each other and the front runner predictably turned out to be RAGINI MMS followed by LOVE U … MR. KALAAKAR!, though lagging behind by quite a bit. However even Balaji's RAGINI MMS did not manage the kind of business expected of it, but still did quite well overall. The Rajshri venture, LOVE U … MR. KALAAKAR!, fared decently but only at single screens of Central and North India. The other two releases, SHAGIRD and STANLEY KA DABBA, were the last in the race with SHAGIRD doing well in some Maharashtra cinemas while the extremely well made STANLEY KA DABBA at select multiplexes (especially those patronised by school bookings). All the four releases saw a pronounced fall in collections during the weekdays.

Moving, Vikram Bhatt's HAUNTED 3D maintained superbly during the weekdays as well and collected 2.15 crores from Bombay (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 57 lakhs from Ahmedabad (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 7 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 6 cinemas unreceived), 1 lakh from Vapi, 1.35 lakhs from Bharuch (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 1.25 lakhs from Palanpur, 1.35 lakhs from Patan, 12 lakhs from Rajkot, 3 lakhs from Jamnagar, 4.25 lakhs from Bhavnagar, 1.50 lakhs from Porbandar, 1.75 lakhs from Junagarh, 1.50 lakhs from Bhuj, 2.50 lakhs from Gandhidham, 61 lakhs from Pune, 2 lakhs from Satara, 2.35 lakhs from Karad, 1.75 lakhs from Solapur, 1.75 lakhs from Sangli, 5.50 lakhs from Nasik, 1.50 lakhs from Malegaon, 2.25 lakhs from Belgaum, 1.25 crores from Delhi city, 20.50 lakhs from Noida, 11.60 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 13 lakhs from Kanpur, 22 lakhs from Lucknow, 7 lakhs from Agra, 4.50 lakhs from Allahabad, 5.20 lakhs from Meerut, 1.30 lakhs from Moradabad, 2 lakhs from Aligarh, 3.50 lakhs from Gorakhpur, 1.35 lakhs from Muzaffarnagar, 21 lakhs from Gurgaon, 9.50 lakhs from Faridabad, 2.65 lakhs from Panipat, 8 lakhs from Chandigarh, 1.50 lakhs from Zirakpur, 4 lakhs from Jalandhar, 1.50 lakhs from Bhatinda, 2 lakhs from Ambala, 5 lakhs from Ludhiana, 3.50 lakhs from Amritsar, 1.25 lakhs from Pathankot, 57.50 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 7 lakhs from Siliguri, 1.65 lakhs from Guwahati, 17 lakhs from Nagpur, 4.60 lakhs from Amravati, 1.70 lakhs from Akola, 1.75 lakhs from Dhule, 11.65 lakhs from Raipur, 3.35 lakhs from Durg, 1.55 lakhs from Chandrapur, 1 lakh from Khandwa, 21 lakhs from Indore, 1.70 lakhs from Sehore, 3.65 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 26 lakhs from Bhopal, 20.50 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 1 lakh from Jodhpur, 5.50 lakhs from Ajmer, 3.25 lakhs from Bikaner, 6 lakhs from Kota, 13 lakhs from Hyderabad (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 2.50 lakhs from Aurangabad, 1.50 lakhs from Nanded, 2.35 lakhs from Gulbarga, 22 lakhs from Bangalore, 2.60 lakhs from Mangalore, 1.60 lakhs from Visakhapatnam, 4 lakhs from Madras (collections from 6 cinemas unreceived), 1 .55 lakhs from Coimbatore and 3 lakhs from Kochi.
