This Friday will witness the release of Yash Raj Films’ MARDAANI, Phantom Films presented docu-drama KATIYABAAZ, the Sahil Prem directed MAD ABOUT DANCE, Mowgli Productions’ MUMBHAI CONNECTIONS and last but not the least LIFE IS BEAUTIFUL.
The front runner will obviously be Rani Mukerji’s MARDAANI, though releasing so close to the still strong SINGHAM RETURNS will mark its chances. Since Phantom Films have an outstanding record of providing 'hat ke' films, it is to be seen how much current KATIYABAAZ can generate!

Independence day saw the release of SINGHAM RETURNS, the follow up to Ajay-Rohit’s cult hit, SINGHAM. The film has not only managed to equal the best opening day record (32 crore) of films like SRK’s CHENNAI EXPRESS and Salman’s EK THA TIGER, but has continued its winning run during weekend, netting 75 crore.

In the process, SINGHAM RETURNS managed the second best opening weekend of 2014, after Salman Khan’s KICK. The film is on way to a superhit status, if not blockbuster. SINGHAM RETURNS is the biggest overseas opener for an Ajay Devgn solo grossing $2.5m with £158,000 from UK and $654,000 from the US, during the opening weekend (15-17 August).
