Bollywood Box Office Report Of The Week: 22 Jjuly 2019

Adv.

It’s an almost open week as there are no prominent new Hindi films releasing. In fact the prominent release of the week is Hollywood’s animated THE ANGRY BIRDS MOVIE 2 (dubbed) which too will find limited patronage as the audience will prefer the Independence Day releases.

The  I Day (Rakshabandhan as well) clash between MISSION MANGAL and BATLA HOUSE turned out to be a one sided affair, with the Akshay Kumar starrer dominating John Abraham’s film comprehensively.

In fact, the opening day (29 crore) and weekend (3-day and extended) are the best ever for an Akshay Kumar starrer.

At the end of 4-days MISSION MANGAL has netted 97 crore and is all set to be at least a super hit, given the very reasonable production cost (below 35 crore)! MISSION MANGAL has also impressed in the overseas grossing $3.50m with £220,000 from UK and $1,525,000  from the US during the opening week(16-18 August).

It doesn’t mean that BATLA HOUSE has lost it all, though for a box-office novice, it may appear so! After a decent opening day (15 crore) the film saw the usual post big Holiday fall but still managed a decent 45 crore during the extended opening weekend.

Given that the producers already have a table profit BATLA HOUSE may just sneak through to a semi hit status.
