The last Friday of Ramzan (25th July), called Jumma-tul-Wida, will witness an impending typhoon in the form of Sajid Nadiadwala’s Salman, Jacqueline, Nawazuddin and Randeep starrer, KICK. The reason why we have used the term impending is because it will kick the box-office with full fury on the day of Eid-ul-Fitr (29th or 30th July), before that the collection will be great, though not earth shattering! The collections are expected to be huge in India and big in the overseas, in the final count.
Last week saw multiple releases in the form of Bejoy Nambiar’s PIZZA (3D), late Rajesh Khanna starrer RIYASAT, Vikram Bhatt produced HATE STORY 2 and Vir Das’s AMIT SAHNI KI LIST etc. The front runner and the surprise success (especially a week before KICK) turned out to be Bhushan Kumar’s Sushant-Surveen starrer, HATE STORY 2, which netted 15 crore during the opening weekend. The other two releases to fare reasonably (at multiplexes) were AMIT SAHNI KI LIST and PIZZA (3D).

Netting 52 crore during the opening week and given the way the film has progressed (in the second week), HUMPTY SHARMA KI DULHANIA is on way to a clean hit. The film is also doing very well in the overseas (good in the US) grossing £130,000 from UK and $730,000 from the US, till the second weekend (18-20 July).
