The coming Friday will see the release of Arshad Warsi's maiden production venture HUM TUM AUR GHOST taking on Shyam Benegal's WELL DONE ABBA. Also in the fray are Karan Razdan's MITTAL VS MITTAL, the Ashok Kheny directed PREM KA GAME and the animated MY FRIEND GANESHA 3.

One feels that it will be a straight contest between HUM TUM AUR GHOST and WELL DONE ABBA and given Shyam Benegal's impeccable iconic record, WELL DONE ABBA, may just sneak through, more so in view of all the positive feedback from those who have seen it already!

Last Friday proved to be an anti-climax of sorts with neither LAHORE nor LOVE SEX AUR DHOKHA or even SHAAPIT taking a decent start. The front runner turned out to be LOVE SEX AUR DHOKHA followed by LAHORE and SHAAPIT, though the collections of none of the three movies brought much cheer. Fortunately in case of LOVE SEX AUR DHOKHA the sub 2 crore cost and the fact that it has held on decently at big city multiplexes makes the Dibaker Banerjee directed film a profitable venture for all concerned.

Unfortunately for macho man Sunny Deol, RIGHT YAAA WRONG, having his most polished performance in recent times, failed to click due to some indifferent publicity, delay and wrong release timing. The film collected 52 lakhs from Bombay (collections from 32 cinemas unreceived), 15.35 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 1 lakh from Rajkot, 1.10 lakhs from Bhavnagar and Nasik, 2 lakhs from Pune, 1.30 lakhs from Solapur, 1.75 lakhs from Goa, 30 lakhs from Delhi city, 3.55 lakhs from Noida, 2 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 3.50 lakhs from Kanpur, 4.75 lakhs from Lucknow, 1.65 lakhs from Agra, 1 lakh from Allahabad, 1.50 lakhs from Aligarh, 3.55 lakhs from Gurgoan, 2 lakhs from Chandigarh, 1 lakh from Panipat, 3.10 lakhs from Calcutta, 2.50 lakhs from Nagpur, 1 lakh each from Raipur and Bhopal, 1.35 lakhs from Indore, 2.60 lakhs from Jaipur, 10.15 lakhs from Hyderabad, 2 lakhs from Aurangabad and 2.20 lakhs from Bangalore. Collecting around 3.20 crores in its opening week, the Sunny, Irrfan and Konkona starrer has failed at the ticket window.

The other release of the same week, HIDE AND SEEK, was a failure from the first show. The film collected 6.50 lakhs from Bombay (collections from 26 cinemas unreceived), 3.15 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 4.15 lakhs from Delhi city, 1.50 lakhs from Noida, 1 lakh from Ghaziabad, 1.15 lakhs each from Calcutta and Hyderabad and 1.50 lakhs from Bangalore. Netting less than 50 lakhs from India in its opening week, HIDE AND SEEK is a washout.

Though NA GHAR KE NA GHAAT KE got some decent reviews but due to no face value, the film collected poorly with 7 lakhs from Bombay (collections from 31 cinemas unrecieved), 4 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 12 lakhs from Delhi city, 1.10 lakhs each from Noida and Ghaziabad, 1.25 lakhs each from Kanpur and Allahabad, 1 lakh from Lucknow, 1.35 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1 lakh each from Chandigarh, Calcutta and Nagpur, 1.50 lakhs from Hyderabad and 1 lakh from Bangalore. Netting just about 75 lakhs, NA GHAR KE NA GHAAT KE is a flop.
