So finally the 'no new releases' phase is ending this Friday with three new films, HAPPY HUSBANDS, LIFE GOES ON and MONICA. While none of the three is expected to make an impact at the ticket window, Anup Jalota's Divya Dutta and Ashutosh Rana starrer, MONICA, being a topical film (for the hinterland), may just find some patronage at select cinemas of Uttar Pradesh.

With no new Hindi releases last Friday, many dubbed and regional films released at the cinemas but even they could not make any mark, more so due to the ICC World Cup Cricket being the first choice for the viewers. Interestingly, even a host of past hits from stars like Aamir Khan, Salman Khan and Shah Rukh Khan too went unnoticed when distributors re-released them.

Checking out TANU WEDS MANU, the film continues to gallop in a one horse race and collected 35 lakhs from Bombay (collections from 39 cinemas unreceived), 15.35 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 7 lakhs from Baroda, 5.50 lakhs from Surat, 1.50 lakhs from Anand, 1 lakh from Bharuch, 1 lakh from Mehsana, 3 lakhs from Rajkot, 1 lakh from Jamnagar, 1 lakh from Gandhidham, 3 lakhs from Pune (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 2 lakhs from Nasik (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 1.65 lakhs from Goa, 75 lakhs from Delhi city, 5.15 lakhs from Noida, 10 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 8 lakhs from Kanpur, 15 lakhs from Lucknow, 1.25 lakhs from Agra, 3 lakhs from Allahabad, 1.10 lakhs from Aligarh, 2.35 lakhs from Gorakhpur, 17 lakhs from Gurgaon, 7 lakhs from Faridabad, 2 lakhs from Panipat, 8 lakhs from Chandigarh, 1.25 lakhs from Bhatinda, 2 lakhs from Ambala, 3.50 lakhs from Ludhiana, 2.50 lakhs from Patiala, 2 lakhs from Amritsar, 12 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 2 lakhs from Siliguri, 7 lakhs from Nagpur, 2.50 lakhs from Raipur, 9.50 lakhs from Indore, 5 lakhs from Bhopal, 10 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 1.50 lakhs from Jodhpur (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 1.20 lakhs from Ajmer, 2 lakhs from Bikaner, 2 lakhs from Kota, 7 lakhs from Hyderabad (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 1 lakh from Aurangabad (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 1.25 lakhs from Latur, 16.50 lakhs from Bangalore, 1 lakh from Vishakhapatnam and 2.15 lakhs from Madras (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived).

Adding a further 5.25 crores, TANU WEDS MANU has netted 32.75 crores in three weeks from India. The Madhavan-Kangna starrer is now clean hit. The film has also done quite well in the Overseas (and with a limited release!) grossing ?88,000 from UK and $227,000 from US till the fourth weekend (18-20 March).

Meanwhile Vishal Bhardwaj's 7 KHOON MAAF continues to fall as the film collected 6 lakhs from Bombay, 2.55 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 2.50 lakhs from Pune (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 7.50 lakhs from Delhi city, 1.65 lakhs from Noida, 1.50 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 1.50 lakhs from Lucknow, 2 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1 lakh from Chandigarh, 3 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 1 lakh from Jaipur (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 1 lakh from Hyderabad and 2.50 lakhs from Bangalore. With 55 lakhs more, 7 KHOON MAAF has netted around 19.80 crores in four weeks from India and has failed.

Even in the Overseas the Priyanka Chopra starrer has not done well and has grossed ?95,000 from UK till the fifth weekend (18-20 March) and $270,000 from US at the end of its run.

Concluding yet again with Nikhil Advani's PATIALA HOUSE, the film stays in the cinemas due to the paucity of any new release and collected 5 lakhs from Bombay (collections from 24 cinemas unreceived), 6.25 lakhs from Delhi city, 1.25 lakhs from Noida, 1 lakh from Ghaziabad, 1.20 lakhs from Lucknow, 2.50 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1.10 lakhs from Chandigarh, 3.15 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), and 10 lakhs from Jaipur. Adding a further 65 lakhs PATIALA HOUSE has netted nearly 33 crores in five weeks from India and has failed, though the losses have been minimal, thanks to the extended run.

The Rishi Kapoor, Akshay Kumar and Anushka Sharma starrer has also under-performed in the Overseas (much better in the UK) grossing ?700,000 from UK till the sixth weekend (18-20 March) and $650,000 in the US at the end of its run.
