Bollywood box-office report of the week : 24 november 2010

Adv.

This week's new releases include Imran-Deepika's BREAK KE BAAD, Sunny Deol's much delayed KHUDA KASAM and the Faruk Kabir directed ALLAH KE BANDAY. One feels that given the hype and reasonably popular music the Danish Aslam directed BREAK KE BAAD may just about emerge the front runner, though the opening is not likely to be anything great.

Last week saw three releases- Sanjay Leela Bhansali's GUZAARISH; the Makrand Deshpande directed SHAHRUKH BOLA KHOOBURAT HAI TU and DIWANGI NE HAD KAR DI. While it was obvious that SHAHRUKH BOLA KHOOBSURAT HAI TU and DIWANGI NE HAD KAR DI were going to be non starters, the slow start of GUZAARISH caught everyone by surprise. The film did show a slight pick up during the weekend but will that be enough is the question. The Hrithik-Aishwarya starrer has also under-performed in the Overseas grossing ?163,988 from UK and $488,121 from US during the opening weekend (19-21 November).

A FLAT fell flat on its face, collecting 5 lakhs from Bombay (collections from 15 cinemas unreceived), 1 lakh from Ahmedabad (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 3.35 lakhs from Delhi city, 1 lakh each from Noida , Gurgaon and Chandigarh and 1.15 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived). Netting around 30 lakhs during the opening week, A FLAT is a trade disaster.
