Bollywood box-office report of the week : 26 december 2013

The coming Friday will witness the release of MAHABHARAT (animated), featuring the voices of Amitabh Bachchan, Sunny Deol, Ajay Devgn and Shatrughan Sinha etc. and the Meera starrer BHADAAS. Needless to add that DHOOM 3 will be too strong for bother the new releases.

Coming to Yash Raj Films' Aamir, Katrina, Abhishek and Uday starrer, DHOOM 3, after an astounding first day of well over 31 crore (despite a working day), the film maintained its tempo during the next two days of the weekend and even during the weekday. As per rough estimates the film touched the 140 crore till Tuesday, and is likely to end the week netting a record blasting 175-180 crore, with the dubbed version (s) adding another 10-12 crore! The Vijay Krishna Acharya directed DHOOM 3 is also on a record breaking run in the overseas grossing $10m, with ?885,000 from UK and $3,500,000 from the US during the opening weekend (20-22 December) itself.

Checking out Kaizad Gustad's Naseeruddin Shah, Sachiin Joshi and Sunny Leone starrer, JACKPOT, the film failed to make a mark as it collected 50 lakhs from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 15 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 5 lakhs from Surat, 2.75 lakhs from Baroda, 1.50 lakhs from Rajkot, 6.50 lakhs from Pune, 2.75 lakhs from Nasik, 1 lakh from Goa, 40 lakhs from Delhi city, 4.50 lakhs from Noida, 7 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 5 lakhs from Kanpur, 6.15 lakhs from Lucknow, 1 lakh from Agra, 1.50 lakhs from Allahabad, 5.50 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1.50 lakhs from Faridabad, 1 lakh from Panipat, 4 lakhs from Chandigarh, 2 lakhs from Jalandhar, 2 lakhs from Amritsar, 2 lakhs from Ludhiana, 1 lakh from Bhatinda, 1.25 lakhs from Jammu, 10 lakhs from Calcutta, 1.50 lakhs from Siliguri, 3 lakhs from Nagpur, 3.50 lakhs from Jabalpur, 5 lakhs from Raipur, 5.50 lakhs from Indore (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 2 lakhs from Bhopal, 10 lakhs from Jaipur, 1 lakh from Ajmer, 3 lakhs from Kota, 2.25 lakhs from Udaipur, 15 lakhs from Hyderabad, 1.50 lakhs from Aurangabad and 5 lakhs from Bangalore. Netting 5 crore during the opening week, JACKPOT is a resounding flop.

The other release of the week, the Dimple Kapadia starrer, WHAT THE FISH, is a trade disaster netting around 50 lakhs during the first week.

Moving on, Prabhu Dheva's Shahid-Sonakshi starrer, R…RAJKUMAR, managed decently in the second week collecting 1.75 crore from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 75 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 20.15 lakhs from Surat, 4 lakhs from Baroda, 8.65 lakhs from Rajkot, 27.55 lakhs from Pune, 12.50 lakhs from Nasik, 3.25 lakhs from Goa, 2.50 lakhs from Belgaum, 1.25 crore from Delhi city, 16 lakhs from Noida, 20 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 14 lakhs from Kanpur, 25 lakhs from Lucknow, 3.55 lakhs from Agra, 4 lakhs from Allahabad, 13.65 lakhs from Gurgaon, 4 lakhs from Faridabad, 1.15 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 2.50 lakhs from Panipat, 9 lakhs from Chandigarh, 4 lakhs from Jalandhar, 4 lakhs from Amritsar, 3.15 lakhs from Ludhiana, 2 lakhs from Bhatinda, 1 lakh from Ambala and 1.50 lakhs from Jammu, 25 lakhs from Calcutta, 1 lakh from Darjeeling, 4 lakhs from Siliguri, 4.50 lakhs from Patna, 3.65 lakhs from Dhanbad, 2 lakhs from Ranchi , 4.50 lakhs from Bhubhaneshwar, 35 lakhs from Nagpur, 11 lakhs from Jabalpur, 21 lakhs from Raipur, 32.50 lakhs from Indore, 5 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 15 lakhs from Bhopal (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 60 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 6 cinemas unreceived), 8 lakh from Ajmer, 2.50 lakhs from Bikaner, 7.50 lakhs from Kota, 10 lakhs from Udaipur, 1 crore from Hyderabad, 6 lakhs from Aurangabad, 25.50 lakhs from Bangalore, 2 lakhs from Mangalore, 1 lakh from Visakhapatnam and 1 .50 lakhs from Madras. Adding another 16 crore R…RAJKUMAR has netted 59 crore in two weeks from India and is an above average fare. The film though has failed to impress the Overseas grossing ?140,000 from UK and $167,000 from the US.

Concluding with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Deepika Padukone-Ranveer Singh starrer, GOLIYON KI RAASLEELA RAM-LEELA , the film added some more to its kitty as it collected 20 lakhs from Bombay (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 25 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 3.50 lakhs from Surat, 3.65 lakhs from Baroda, 5 lakhs from Rajkot, 3 lakhs from Pune, 1.50 lakhs from Nasik, 30 lakhs from Delhi city, 7 lakhs from Noida, 1.15 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 2 lakhs from Lucknow, 4.50 lakhs from Gurgaon, 2.50 lakhs from Chandigarh, 5 lakhs from Calcutta, 3 lakhs from Nagpur, 3 lakhs from Indore, 1.50 lakhs from Bhopal, 5 lakhs from Jaipur, 1 lakh from Udaipur, 10 lakhs from Hyderabad and 12 lakhs from Bangalore. Adding another 1.75 crore, RAM-LEELA has netted 116.75 crore in five weeks from India and is a super hit. RAM-LEELA, has also done very well in the overseas (superb in US) grossing $6.8m.
