Bollywood box-office report of the week : 27 june 2013

Adv.

The coming Friday will see the release of UTV Motion Pictures' Emraan Hashmi and Vidya Balan starrer, GHANCHAKKAR. Given the fact the music has not made much of a mark and the promotion has not really clicked in a big way with the audience, the Rajkumar Gupta directed GHANCHAKKAR may not open to a great response.

Having said that we would love to be surprised, given the track record of Rajkumar Gupta (AAMIR and NO ONE KILLED JESSICA) and Emraan Hashmi's newfound star status, and not to forget Vidya Balan's stature and presence.

The major release of last Friday, the Sonam, Dhanush, Abhay and Swara starrer, RAANJHANAA, started on a decent note, but went from strength-to-strength netting a good 20 crore (to be validated) during the opening weekend from India. The film is also rock steady during the weekdays. RAANJHANAA has also done very well (good in US) in the overseas grossing ?72,000 from UK and $415,000 from the US during the opening weekend (21-23 June).

The other two releases of the week, the Mithun-Mahaakshay starrer ENEMMY and the Neil Nitin Mukesh, Ameesha Patel and Puja Gupta venture SHORTCUT ROMEO, failed to improve upon the ordinary opening. Comparatively speaking it is ENEMMY which has fared much better than SHORTCUT ROMEO.

Moving on, after a slow opening day, Excel Entertainment's FUKREY saw a steady growth during the weekend and was also very stable during the weekdays. During the opening week the Pulkit Samrat, Ali Fazal and Vishakha Singh starrer collected 2.50 crore from Bombay, 50 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 15.75 lakhs from Surat, 13 lakhs from Baroda (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 6.50 lakhs from Rajkot, 42 lakhs from Pune, 10 lakhs from Nasik, 5.50 lakhs from Goa, 3.15 lakhs from Belgaum, 3.50 crore from Delhi city, 35.75 lakhs from Noida, 23.25 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 13.10 lakhs from Kanpur, 27.20 lakhs from Lucknow, 9.50 lakhs from Agra, 6.20 lakhs from Allahabad, 2.65 lakhs from Meerut, 3.65 lakhs from Aligarh, 45 lakhs from Gurgaon, 9.50 lakhs from Faridabad, 3.50 lakhs from Kurukshetra, 5.75 lakhs from Panipat, 10.65 lakhs from Chandigarh, 10.50 lakhs from Jalandhar, 4 lakhs from Amritsar, 11.15 lakhs from Ludhiana, 3.25 lakhs from Bhatinda, 4.50 lakhs from Ambala, 4 lakhs from Jammu, 30 lakhs from Calcutta, 3.25 lakhs from Siliguri, 2 lakhs from Dhanbad, 2 lakhs from Ranchi, 2 lakhs from Bhubaneshwar, 4.50 lakhs from Guwahati, 21.20 lakhs from Nagpur, 11 lakhs from Jabalpur, 17.20 lakhs from Raipur, 30 lakhs from Indore, 5 lakhs from Gwalior (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 9.50 lakhs from Bhopal (collections from 3 cinemas unreceived), 50 lakhs from Jaipur (collections from 5 cinemas unreceived), 6.50 lakhs from Ajmer, 3.50 lakhs from Bikaner, 9 lakhs from Kota, 12.50 lakhs from Udaipur, 25 lakhs from Hyderabad, 5 lakhs from Aurangabad (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 35.50 lakhs from Bangalore, 1 lakh from Vijayawada, 2.50 lakhs from Visakhapatnam, 1.50 lakhs from Madras and 1 lakh from Kochi.
