This week's solo new release is going to be Saroj Entertainment Pvt. Ltd.'s EK SECOND … JO ZINDAGI BADAL DE. Despite an interesting theme of how destiny charts the course our lives take and what happens if one challenges destiny, the film is unlikely to make an impact due to the super run of RAAJNEETI, apart from the lack of face value.
The superb opening of Prakash Jha Productions, Walkwater Media Ltd. and UTV Motion Pictures' RAAJNEETI has gladdened the hearts of the trade and distribution sector. Barring Delhi city, the film has embarked on an extra ordinary start all over. Given that UTV, the worldwide distributors have a total investment of Rs. 65 crores, trade feels that the film has progressed very well during the opening week but will have to sustain even in the second one to be termed a success. Despite its genre, the film has managed a good opening even in the Overseas sector grossing ?208,217 from UK and $850,244 from the US during its opening weekend (4-6 June)

Meanwhile Parmeet Sethi's BADMAASH COMPANY manages some more decent numbers. The film collected 35 lakhs from Bombay, 10 lakhs from Ahmedabad (collections from 2 cinemas unreceived), 1.30 lakhs each from Baroda and Rajkot, 1.65 lakhs from Pune, 1 lakh from Nasik, 25 lakhs from Delhi city, 4 lakhs from Noida, 2 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 1.75 lakhs from Kanpur, 3 lakhs from Lucknow, 4.75 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1.65 lakhs from Faridabad, 1.15 lakhs from Chandigarh, 3 lakhs from Nagpur, 1.25 lakhs from Jabalpur, 2 lakhs from Indore, 2.50 lakhs from Hyderabad and 2 lakhs from Bangalore. With another 2 crores, the film has netted 33.60 crore in four weeks from India. The Shahid-Anushka starrer BADMAASH COMPANY is touching a semi-hit status. The film though has been rejected by the Overseas grossing ?126,009 from UK till the fifth weekend (4-6 June).
With KITES crashing Sajid Khan's HOUSEFULL gets a new lease of life with quite steady collections (as compared to the previous week). The film managed 15 lakhs from Bombay (collections from 18 cinemas unreceived), 8.75 lakhs from Ahmedabad (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 1.10 lakhs each from Baroda and Rajkot (collections from 4 cinemas unreceived), 1 lakh from Bhavnagar, 1.50 lakhs from Nasik, 19.20 lakhs from Delhi city, 3.10 lakhs from Noida, 2 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 1.60 lakhs from Kanpur, 4.25 lakhs from Lucknow, 1.10 lakhs from Agra, 3.60 lakhs from Gurgaon, 1.50 lakhs from Faridabad, 1 lakh from Chandigarh, 1.50 lakhs from Calcutta, 1.20 lakhs from Nagpur, 1 .60 lakhs from Jablapur, 1.05 lakhs from Akola, 3 lakhs from Indore, 1.75 lakhs from Jaipur, 1 .50 lakhs from Kota, 4 lakhs from Hyderabad, 1.25 lakhs from Aurangabad and 1 lakh from Bangalore. Adding a further 1.50 crore HOUSEFULL has netted 71 crore in six weeks from India and the Akshay, Arjun, Lara, Deepika, Boman and Riteish starrer is a hit plus status. The has also managed good business in the Overseas (though below expectations) grossing ?684,016 from the UK till the sixth weekend (4-6 June) and $1,183,658 from US at the end of its run.
