After three (almost!) open weeks with DABANGG, the coming Friday will see a number of releases- Ranbir-Priyanka's ANJAANA ANJAANI, the Rajnikanth and Aishwarya starrer ENTHIRAN- THE ROBOT (or ENDHIRAN – THE ROBOT), Aatish Kapadia's KHICHDI -THE MOVIE and BENNY AUR BABLOO. As things stand today, the front runner may well turn out to be Sajid Nadiadwala's Siddharth Anand directed ANJAANA ANJAANI, followed by (ENDHIRAN) ENTHIRAN- THE ROBOT in Southern circuits, while KHICHDI -THE MOVIE is likely to make a mark in the Maharashtra and Gujarat belt.
The last mentioned, the Kay Kay and Rajpal Yadav starrer BENNY AUR BABLOO will go unnoticed.
With another open week (as we have mentioned above), and no competition in sight, Arbaaz Khan's Abhinav Kashyap directed DABANGG continued to rule the cinemas, taking nothing away from the movie's clout with the audience. The film did see a heavy fall of around 58-59 percent, but that hardly matters as the two week distributors' share is a whopping Rs. 65 crore! With another 34.50 crores, DABANGG has netted a huge 115.25 crores in two weeks from India.
The film is an all time blockbuster. The Salman Khan, Sonakshi Sinha and Sonu Sood starrer has also done wonders in the Overseas (despite its desi theme), grossing ?700,000 from UK and $1,258,932 from US till the third weekend (24-26 September).
Meanwhile Karan Johar's Siddharth Malhotra directed WE ARE FAMILY continues to crash further. During the week the film collected 15 lakhs from Bombay (collections from 12 cinemas unreceived), 4.50 lakhs from Ahmedabad, 1.50 lakhs from Baroda, 1.25 lakhs each from Pune and Goa, 10 lakhs from Delhi city, 1.50 lakhs from Ghaziabad, 2 lakhs each from Lucknow and Gurgaon, 1.25 lakhs from Chandigarh, 5 lakhs from Calcutta (collections from other cinemas unreceived), 1 lakh from Jaipur, 3 lakhs from Hyderabad, 4 lakhs from Bangalore and 1 lakh from Mangalore. Adding a further 1.25 crore, WE ARE FAMILY has netted a very ordinary 21.50 crores in three weeks from India. The Kajol, Kareena Kapoor and Arjun Rampal starrer will have to rely on non-theatrical rights for recovery.
WE ARE FAMILY is also below the mark in the Overseas circuit (for a Karan-Kajol project) grossing ?678,646 from UK till the fourth weekend (24-26 September) and $631,276 from US at the end of its run.
