Bollywood box-office report of the week : 3 july 2014

The coming Friday will witness the release of Vidya Balan's BOBBY JASOOS and EROS International and Illuminati Films' LEKAR HUM DEEWANA DIL. While the two new releases are sure to be good projects, but unfortunately for both, the first choice of the audience is likely to be EK VILLAIN.

Last week's major release, Mohit Suri's Riteish Deshmukh, Shraddha Kapoor and Sidharth Malhotra starrer, EK VILLAIN, embarked on a bumper start, despite some bad reviews. The film moved from strength-to-strength as the days progressed, and after a great 50 crore opening weekend, held strongly during the weekdays. EK VILLAIN is sure to be a superhit, if not a blockbuster. The film is also doing very well in the overseas grossing £ 145,000 from UK and $415,000 from the US, during the opening weekend (27-29 June).

Netting 55 crore during the opening week from India, HUMSHAKALS is an average fare, based on the worldwide run. The film has done well in the overseas grossing £ 217,000 from UK and $395,000 from the US till the second weekend (27-29 June).

Concluding with Vipul Shah's A. R. Adding another 10.50 crore, HOLIDAY has netted 110.50 crore in three weeks from India and is a hit plus. The film has done very well in the overseas grossing $4m with £255,000 from UK and $850,000 from the US, till the fourth weekend (27-29 June).
