Bollywood Box Office Report Of The Week: 6 june 2019

The premier release of the week, Ali Abbas Zafar directed Salman-Katrina starrer BHARAT embarked on an expected good to grand start, boosted further by Eid holiday. The latter shows were somewhat affected by the big India-South Africa World Cup cricket match, but still, the first day is  huge and is estimated to be around the 41-42 crore mark. While a good start is half the battle won but BHARAT is a very expensive film and has to sustain, till at least the second weekend.

The major release of last  Friday, Hollywood’s  GODZILLA II –KING OF THE MONSTERS, could not quite impress at the ticket window, netting 16 crore during the opening weekend from India. The two Hindi releases Sharib Hashmi’s NAKKASH and Panch Parmeshthi Productions Pvt. Ltd’s NAUGHTY GANG are washouts.

Adding another 22 crore, DE DE PYAR DE has netted 78 crore in two weeks from India will end up as a semi-hit, after accounting for overseas and non theatrical rights. DDPD is fair in the overseas grossing $2.75m with £185,000 from UK and $1,012,000 from the US, till the third weekend (31May-2June).

Concluding with Karan Johar’s Tiger Shroff, Ananya Pandey, Tara Sutaria and Aditya Seal starrer, STUDENT OF THE YEAR 2, the film crashed further but managed to add another 1.50 crore taking its total to 67 crore in three weeks from India and will at best end up as an average fare.
