Despite megastar Rajnikanth's KOCHADAIIYAAN (2D &3D, animation) having been postponed, this week will yet again witness multiple releases in the form of the Vinod Khanna starrer KOYELAANCHAL, Fox Star Studios and Amole Gupte's HAWAA HAWAAI, the film based on the life of first (famous) Hindi porn writer MASTRAM, along with YEH HAI BAKRAPUR and MANJUNATH. Needless to add that the bunched releases will all damage each other, giving more oxygen to the older films like 2 STATES, REVOLVER RANI and BHOOTHNATH RETURNS.
None of the new releases of last week – PURANI JEANS, KYA DILLI KYA LAHORE, ANGRY YOUNG MAN and KAHIN HAI MERA PYAAR could make any impact at the ticket window. To an extent it was just EROS's PURANI JEANS and the Vijay Raaz and Manu Rishi starrer KYA DILLI KYA LAHORE which were the front runners. In fact the weekend was totally dominated by the Hollywood venture, THE AMAZING SPIDERMAN-2 (which released on Thursday), but the film fell heavily Monday onwards.

Netting 10 crore during the opening week REVOLVER RANI is likely to end up as a below average fare, given the all-inclusive cost (18 crore).
The third release of the same week, Rajshri's SAMRAT & CO, could not achieve anything at the ticket window netting around 2 crore, and is a trade disaster.
