This Friday will see two major releases, Vishal Bhardwaj's Naseer, Madhuri, Arshad and Huma starrer DEDH ISHQIYA and T-Series' youthful venture, YAARIYAN. The two mentioned films aim at different segments of the audience with DEDH ISHQIYA eying the class audiences and YAARIYAN the youths.
It was an interesting battle between the two releases of last week, the Arshad-Soha starrer, MR. JOE B. CARVALHO and GP Sippy's timeless classic SHOLAY 3D. The winner turned out to be the Amitabh, Dharmendra, Hema, Jaya and Amjad starrer SHOLAY 3D which netted in excess of 5.50 crore during the opening weekend as opposed to MR. JOE B. CARVALHO which barely managed 2.50 crore during the same period.
Meanwhile, MAHABHARAT (animation) could not make much of an impact despite good promotions and ended the week netting 1.50 crore from India, but the film will definitely find takers in the DVD circuits.
The other release of the week, Meera's BHADAAS, proved to be a box-office disaster and could not even complete a week at the ticket window.
