Bollywood Box Office Report Of The Week: 9th Aug 2019

The premier release of the week is Siddharth-Parineeti’s JABARIYA JODI and should dominate the proceedings, thanks to some crisp teasers and good promotion. The other new releases include Seven Hillss Cine Creations Productions’ CHICKEN CURRY LAW as well as a couple of smaller projects, which will have to play second fiddle to JABARIYA JODI.

Checking out last week’s  T-Series venture Sonakshi Sinha’s KHANDAANI SHAFAKHANA, the film could not make mark despite being an open release, netting just 3 crore during the inaugural weekend. In fact the winner was expectedly Hollywood’s FAST & FURIOUS : HOBBS & SHAW (dubbed) which netted almost 38 crore during the opening weekend, though it fell short of expectations, coming off a very successful brand.

Meanwhile,  animated THE LION KING (dubbed) continued it’s winning run adding another 44 crore, thus netting 126 crore in two weeks from India and is on way to be a super hit.

With another 18 crore, SUPER 30 has netted 132 crore in three weeks from India and is a hit plus. The film has also impressed in the overseas (especially US) grossing £233,000 from UK and $2,270,000  from the US, till the fourth weekend (2-4 August).

Concluding with T-Series’  Shahid Kapoor-Kiara Advani starrer, KABIR SINGH, the film added another 3 crore, thus netting 276 crore in 6 weeks from India India and is an all time blockbuster. The film is also a good success in the overseas (read as US)  grossing $4.25m with £300,000 from UK and $2,550,000  from the US.
