Today 25th June, is that great day (of 1983) in the history of Indian cricket when Kapil Dev won the ICC Cricket World Cup for India for the first time. This day is a day of celebration and festivities of sorts to look back into the memories of the 1983 World Cup.

Kapil Dev’s achievement was that in the said series he scored a superb 175 not out from 138 balls, including 16 fours and six sixes, which was the highest World Cup score then, it was also a record score in one-day international cricket and figured in the Top 10 ODI Batting Performances.
It is 37 years now, cricketer Kapil Dev still reminisces this day and has posted “37 years to a day that will never be forgotten”

Well, while we cherish the memories of the great day, we are also awaiting the release of the Ranveer Singh starrer 83 based on the same event. 83 was initially announced for 5 April 2019 was later postponed to 30 August 2019. The release date was again postponed to 10 April 2020 due to delays in pre-production. Although it was scheduled for theatrical release on 10 April 2020, the release is postponed due to COVID-19 pandemic. The film is now expected to hit screens on India’s Independence Day 2020. However, there were speculations that the film will be released on some big OTT platforms, but recently, Shibash Sarkar (Group CEO of Reliance Entertainment) clarified that there are no plans to release it on the OTT platforms.
