The chronicle of relationships – Kehne Ko Humsafar Hain (KKHH) is back with its SO3 (third season). Starring Mona Singh, Ronit Roy and Gurdeep Kohli, KKHH 3 will be premiering on Alt Balaji and ZEE5 from June 6, 2020 on ZEE5 and Alt Balaji. Director Abhijit Das the man behind the hit television show Sanjivani (2019) is waiting patiently for the audience response, hoping the third season will get much more love. Amidst the corona scare and unlock phase one stage after the lockdown, Director Abhijit Das gets candid and opens on the show, his understanding of relationships and much more.
How will you differentiate the 3rd season from the previous two?
Art imitates life imitates art. So does KKHH 3. It has evolved and has had major changes. Rohit Mehra has changed from a suave man to a degenerate. He is with a 22-year-old girl now. Everybody seems to be exploding with emotions instead of being nice, like in the earlier 2 seasons. Like in life today, the characters are speaking their mind. Living the life, they want, instead of pretending.
The challenges that faced to keep the promise
Season 2 had left the characters in a whirlpool. Their lives colliding and exploding. Infidelity and betrayal has always remained been deep-rooted in the show. The challenge was to find the same DNA in the past of the characters and show that the future was not different. The writer Jaya Misra achieved this beautifully.
Mona Singh has said its toxic, real dark, your comments
The most used word in 2019 was “Toxic”. Somehow that is the status quo norm in most relationships. It’s unfortunate but that’s the truth. There’s a darkness in the show that raises it’s head constantly. As we scratched beneath the surfaces of all the characters, there was hardly anybody that wasn’t dark. Today we are all selfish. And somebody else always pays the price. That’s KKHH3.
In your opinion what is the most important requirement for a healthy relationship?
Respect. From there emanates love and trust. Unless you respect the person, how can you hold him or her above yourself. And true love has to be selfless. Beyond your own self.
Is there any difference between acquaintance and relationship?
Apart from the obvious dictionary meaning, I believe we often confuse the two. Even married couples for years remain acquaintances without getting into a relationship. One needs to know the other person. Accept the person with their flaws. Push each other to grow. Know what makes the other tick. But we often spend a lifetime in a relationship without really knowing our partner. Or even a friend.
Your take on extra martial affairs?
I believe one partner is never at fault. The man or the woman wanders because they stop getting what they wanted from a relationship. They don’t get bored of the partner. They get bored of the situation. It’s up-to both of them to keep the spark alive.
Why a person looks for options even after committing to someone?
Nobody looks for options. When one goes wandering, one believes that he or she deserves better. They feel unwanted. Everyone wants to feel desirable. That’s the basic need. If one doesn’t get attention in the relationship, they wander.
What make over in the characters will the audience see in the KKHH3 season 3
Ronit Roy gets the biggest makeover. His character was disloyal earlier but still loving. Now he crosses over to the dark side completely. He is an alcoholic straight from hell. Ronit Roy like never before. My favourite character and had so much fun bringing it alive.
So, what about season 4.. are you also part of the season 4 which is said to have new faces?
Yahan toh log badalte hain mausamon ki tarah… Season 4 ka kya pataa?
Any other genres you want to explore?
I have never handled comedy. It scares me. We have grown up watching British comedy. Basu Chatterjee and Hrishikesh Mujherjee. But I want to learn how to make people laugh.
