Immediate reaction when the end credits roll
It’s extremely difficult to analyze a movie like Dil Bechara that has so many sentiments attached. Whenever Sushant Singh Rajput appears onscreen, you want that moment to freeze forever.
The Story of Dil Bechara
The Hindi film adaptation of John Green’s popular 2012 novel, ‘The Fault in Our Stars’. Dil Bechara is set in Jamshedpur and is the story of Kizie Basu (Sanjana Sanghi) who is suffering from thyroid cancer and she lives on oxygen support.
Kizie wants to live a normal life but her routine is restricted to taking regular pills attending cancer counselling sessions and appointments with doctors. One day she meets Immanuel Rajkumar Junior aka Manny (Sushant Singh Rajput) and their love blossoms. Manny is recovering from osteosarcoma and walks with an artificial leg. Manny is full of life ala something like Kaka urf Rajesh Khanna from Anand who gives purpose to Kizie to live and find happiness. They soon develop a special bond, but fate has something else to say.
Dil Bechara movie review
This swang song of Sushant Singh Rajput will be an emotional moment for his fans. Sushant Singh Rajput in a role tailor made for him is in his element and he charms throughout. Sanjana Sanghi is outstanding and the chemistry between Sushant and Sanjana is pious. Mukesh Chhabra is able to churn a couple of touchy moments. Good support comes from Sahil Vaid, Saif Ali Khan, Swastika Mukherjee and Saswata Chatterjee as Kizie’s parents.
Those who have watched the 2014 Hollywood version of Dil Bechara – The Fault in Our Stars by Josh Boone, starring Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort, will have many questions and may also cringe at the filmy adaptation, the Rajini influence, Rahman’s very average score resulting in an average love story but I will have to stop here and show empathy, care and concern.
Picture this… Sushant Singh talking about Life and death in this movie, Saif’s character talks about suicide. We humans live in a strange world. It takes an entire life to find out the meaning of our existence and it’s now more than a month and we all are busy figuring out the reason behind this shocking death of Sushant Singh Rajput. I went emotional during the climax and wondered… we all deserve better… Sushant deserved better… his last movie deserved better… but Sushant Singh Rajput has gone, woh sitara ab ban gaya hai tara… par yeh bol gaya ki Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara… we love you Sushant and will miss you ‘forever’.
