It has been proved time and again that release date is very important, especially for a big budget and star cast film. Unfortunately, even seasoned filmmakers and distributors miss the point, based on their own calculations and estimations, as a result of which a film which could have easily netted 90-100 crore (at a correct date) ends up with just a 70-80 crore figure.
Keeping the above factors in mind, one feels that the Sajid-Farhad directed Akshay-Tamannaah starrer, ENTERTAINMENT, should come at a later date. And there are many reasons for that.
First of all, ENTERTAINMENT will be preceded by perhaps one of the blockbuster hits of 2014, Salman Khan's KICK (July 25), where a sizable number of audiences would have exhausted their entertainment budget for the next few weeks.
Just a week later, it will be Rohit Shetty's sure shot blockbuster starring Ajay Devgn, SINGHAM RETURNS, which means that ENTERTAINMENT will witness a big erosion in its screens as well as collections, eighth day onwards.
Last but not the least, ENTERTAINMENT, which appears like a typical Priyadarshan project, is a theme that is no longer so much in vogue and in fact it is realistic suspense/action drama (like Akshay's very own HOLIDAY) which is the flavor of the season.
Here's hoping team ENTERTAINMENT takes our observations in the right spirit!
