Promotion of 3G is on and other than the fact that this psychological horror thriller boasts of a never heard or seen before subject, the film is also special for Sonal Chauhan since she would be returning as a female lead after a hiatus. While in her debut film JANNAT she had a complex characterisation, one can well see that she isn't breathing easy in 3G either.
By the look of things, it is also apparent that she has gone into a very difficult space as a troubled girl, what with the character played by Neil Nitin Mukesh making life miserable for people around him. So what really is the deal here?
"I could relate to being Sheena since I picked up a lot from my own personality. What you see is inherently me due to which I didn't have to spend much time to understand how I have to play the character,'' says Sonal, "However by no means am I playing this 'damsel in distress'. Perhaps in promos it is coming across that way but the fact is that Sheena is someone who standing by Neil as a rock. In a large part of the movie, she is the one who is driving the quest to find out what is going wrong in their life."
The film is a nightmarish story of Sam (Neil) and Sheena (Sonal), a couple, who become victims of a series of events when Sam buys a 3G enabled second hand phone in Fiji islands while on a holiday. What happens next is sheer mayhem.
"I feel that this is a perfect role that I could have got. Reason being there is a lot of range in the characterisation while the film's flow is pretty much like a roller coaster ride,'' smiles Sonal, "There is a lot of fun in the first half and you would see different shades of me. On the other hand the second half takes an altogether different dimension. Since I can't reveal much for now, all I can say is that the way I behave in the film is pretty much like someone would do when caught in a situation as complex as this."
We would love to see that as well on 15th March when this Next Gen Films Productions (Viki Rajani), which has been presented by Eros (Sunil Lulla) releases all over.
