The filmmaker was also working on the much talked about and awaited third installment of HERA PHERA 3 but unfortunately he left for the
heavenly abode untimely.
Neeraj’s journey in acting began with Ketan Mehta’s HOLI and later he even did TV shows like ‘Choti Nadi Baatein’ and ‘Circus’ (that starred Shah Rukh Khan in the lead). However he came in limelight as he did a small stint in RANGEELA, for which he had written the script. As we bid a tearful adieu to the multi-faceted Neeraj Vora, we take a look at some of his memorable films & performances in Bollywood, either in the capacity of an actor or writer or director.
MANN: Neeraj Vora has worked with Aamir Khan in several films. But his pairing as a sidekick in the film MANN was most recognized. Neeraj’s monologue on the side effects of love was one of the most hilarious scenes in the films and one still loves his act
DAUD: Neeraj not only acted in the film but even credited as writer of the film. While the film was not a commercial success but it was definitely loved for its songs and especially the comic sequence with Neeraj. One of the longest & best sequence from DAUD has been where Neeraj is fooled by Sanjay Dutt & Urmila Matondkar, lead stars, as they narrate their stories and funnily irritate him.
HAR DIL JO PYAAR KAREGA: We all loved Salman Khan-Preity Zinta-Rani Mukerji’s film HAR DIL JO PYAAR KAREGA. Neeraj played a sidekick to Salman Khan. Their chemistry and fun banter was entertaining enough.
PHIR HERA PHERI While he wrote the screenplay of out-n-out hilarious film HERA PHERI, he went on to direct the sequel and it was also a great hit. The comic sequences in PHIR HERA PHERI were well-timed. In fact HERA PHERI franchise is known as cult comedy.
MAST: Neeraj Vora’s performance as Café owner, who gives shelter and work to a young college boy played by Aftab Shivdasani, who elopes from home to meet his dream girl Urmila Matondkar (who plays an actress in the film), was impactful.
GOLMAAL:Today Rohit Shetty’s GOLMAAL is a super hit franchise thanks to Neeraj Vora’s writing. Neeraj wrote the first part of Rohit Shetty’s GOLMAAL and today we know how famous all the characters are. The story of the film was reportedly based on Mihir Bhuta’s Gujarati play, Aflatoon.
BOL BACHCHAN: While remembering this Rohit Shetty film nobody can forget Ajay Devgn’s right hand played by Neeraj Vora, who also amused us with his antics. Fans tout it to be Neeraj’s one of the best performance.
Well we have indeed lost a gem, who was not only a terrific actor but also a smart writer and a good director. RIP Neeraj Vora!
