For his third directorial affair KAI PO CHE!, filmmaker Abhishek Kapoor has roped in rank or almost newcomers like Sushant Singh Rajput, Amit Sadh and Raj Kumar Yadav. While one waits to see how the actors manage to prove their credentials, one can see that the film is exploring a different territory altogether. While it was always on the cards that there would be a good film in the offering from the director, especially after ROCK ON, was it a conscious move on part of Abhishek to step into a different zone?

”When I took it on, people said that I was making yet another friendship film. However that’s not really the case. This is middle class India and what attracted me were the characters and the situations that were in there with different sensibilities. Beyond that the book itself (The 3 Mistakes of My Life) is a epic story where there is so much ranging from politics, religion, love to an earthquake. It took me such a long time to put it all into a tight screenplay,” reveals Abhishek.

If that was tough enough, the shooting conditions made it even harder for him as well as his crew.
”I shot in Gujarat between April and June last year which would give you a right indication of how hot it must have been. The temperature was hovering around the 50 degrees mark and such were the conditions that even our technical equipment could not function. It was a grueling shoot and thankfully there was full support from UTV which backed me up completely,” remembers Abhishek.
Also starring Amrita Puri as the leading lady, KAI PO CHE! has music by Amit Trivedi and releases all over on 22nd February.
