With AASHIQUI 2’s super success Shraddha Kapoor went on signing spree and has as many as 4-5 films in her kitty. However, that isn’t the case with her co-star Aditya Roy Kapur. He’s quite selective about the films that he is doing.

Now that Aditya is set to be seen in upcoming film DAAWAT-E-ISHQ, ask why he took it slow after being part of two mega projects like AASHIQUI 2 and YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI and he reveals, ”But that’s pretty much how I have been. After GUZAARISH also, films came my way but I just waited and said no to bunch of things. People came to me and told that I was stupid or a fool for not doing number of films but I always wanted to stick to my gut feeling. So, I had to wait till AASHIQUI 2 and YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI released to gauge what kind of offers I am getting. Besides, projects also take certain amount of time. Then, you have to pester on producer and director’s head to convince them. So all this takes couple of months. Once you okay the project, it takes hardly six months to make or produce the film.”
Where his colleagues like Ranveer Singh, Arjun Kapoor, Sidharth Malhotra, Varun Dhawan & others are churning out films after films, does he feel the anxiety of being at par? ”There’s no anxiety. I would like to work more and love to be on sets. But so far I have just felt light and comfortable in my own space. Having said that, I might just change my approach,” says Aditya.
While Aditya now seems to be elated & confident doing solo hero movies, before AASHIQUI 2 he was unsure of pulling it off solely.
He shares, ”AASHIQUI 2 was my first solo film. I never did romantic scenes or even romanced anyone on-screen before that. So I had different set of doubts before I started that film. Apart from that, a film was set on my shoulders which again made me apprehensive.”
”However, post AASHIQUI 2 and YEH JAWAANI HAI DEEWANI I get the feeling of belonging more than before. I am very sure of taking the onus now,” he adds.
Also starring Parineeti Chopra, DAAWAT-E-ISHQ, directed by Habib Faisal, is set to release on September 19, 2014.
