Announcing the project Deepak Balraj said, ”The music of JAAN TERE NAAM was a big hit and it catapulted its lead stars Ronit Roy & Farheen to stardom. Similarly, I would like to work with newcomers for JTN2 and intend to hold a nationwide talent hunt to select the lead pair. Dancing skills are a must for the lead pair as I intend to have a lot of stunning dance sequences along with peppy foot tapping music. It’s been 21 years since JAAN TERE NAAM released and I have been toying with the idea of directing it all over again with an entirely fresh setting, concept and star cast. The story idea is ready and if all things fall into place we should finalise the lead pair by August end and start shooting in September or October.”
Deepak Balraj Vij has to his credit movies like ZAKHMEE INSAAN, SAILAAB (Madhuri Dixit), HAFTA BANDH, Bomb BLAST and other movies in the early 90s. He also recently directed two movies on Sai Baba called SHIRDI SAI BABA (2001) & MALIK EK (2010, starring Jackie Shroff).
JAAN TERE NAAM was a 1992 hit film directed by Deepak Balraj Vij starring Ronit Roy & Farheen, with superhit music by Nadeem – Shravan. It had fantastic dance sequences and the music is still considered to be among the best in Hindi cinema of the 90s.
