After Oscars, DAM999 gets nominated in Golden Rooster Awards

After the worldwide recognition and Academy Award selection in 2011, DAM999, the debut direction venture of Sohan Roy, now enjoys the double pleasure of being selected to Golden Rooster Awards, which is mostly referred to as China's Academy Awards.

DAM999 is the very first film from India to be qualified for this prestigious award.

DAM999, the most controversial movie of the year 2011, with 5 Oscar selections under the categories of 'Best Picture, 'Original Score' and 'Original Soundtrack' is tribute to the 1975 Banqiao Dam disaster in China that claimed 250,000 lives.

The Screenplay of the movie was added to the permanent core collection in Library of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences before its release in 2011.

DAM999 was officially suggested to the festival committee by famous Israelian Director Dan Wolman, the eminent Jury of numerous International film festivals.

Director Sohan Roy states, "I was worried if China would get to watch DAM999 owing to the theme of the movie but this selection has indeed left me speechless. I would like to thank Director Dan Wolman & the Festival committee for this surprise."

The film will compete under 12 categories in Golden Rooster Awards which will take place in Shaoxing City towards the end of September.
