After REMAKES, its time for SEQUELS

While 2011 saw many remakes climbing high on the box-office chart, 2012 is the year of sequels of blockbuster films. Multiple sequels will get released this year or hit the floor.

Salman Khan's DABANGG was the biggest hit of 2010. It was not only praised by the audience, but also received numerous awards at several award functions. Now, Arbaaz Khan dons the director's cap with DABANGG 2 after his clash with Abhinav Kashyap, who directed DABANGG. The release date of the film is not yet finalised.

The shooting of DHOOM 3 is also expected to begin early this year, though delays are affecting its schedule. Aamir Khan, Abhishek Bachchan, Katrina Kaif and Uday Chopra, will share the careen space in the film. The shooting of the film was supposed to commence on November 2011, but it was postponed as Junior B wanted to spend some time with wife Aishwarya Rai Bachchan when she was pregnant. Both Dhoom and DHOOM 2 have received people's thumbs-up. Moreover, Aamir Khan's entry in DHOOM 3 has only raised people's anticipation. The film is expected to fare well at the box-office.

Expectations from Milan Luthria's ONCE UPON A TIME IN MUMBAAI – 2 are also high. Akshay Kumar has been roped in for the film. The actor will portray the continuation of Emraan Hashmi's (Shoaib) character in the sequel. Reportedly, Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor have also been signed for the film.

The shooting for HOUSEFULL 2 is already on. Director Sajid Khan has high expectations from the film and even believes that it will be a bigger hit than HOUSEFULL. Akshay Kumar, John Abraham, Riteish Deshmukh, Asin, Jacqueline Fernandez, Zarine Khan, Shazahn Padamsee and Shreyas Talpade will share the screen space in the film. HOUSEFULL 2 is scheduled for an April 2012 release.

MUNNABHAI 3, the continuation of MUNNABHAI series, is also making news. The film will supposedly see Munna and Circuit travelling to America and their odd experiences. A major speculation about the movie was about superstar Aamir Khan replacing Sanjay Dutt. Aamir, later clarified on the rumour and mentioned that he is not signed for the film.

Abbas Mastan's thriller film RACE 2 is set for a November 2012 release. Anil Kapoor, John Abraham, John Abraham, Deepika Padukone, Jacqueline Fernandez and Ameesha Patel form the star-cast of the film. RACE, which featured Saif Ali Khan, Bipasha Basu and Akshaye Khanna in the lead roles, was one of the biggest hits of 2008.

Though KRISSH did not receive pleasing response from the audience, the action scenes of the film were appreciated. Banking on Hrithik Roshan, Priyanka Chopra and Vivek Oberoi, director Rakesh Roshan is all set to deliver the best in KRRISH 2. The release date is not confirmed yet.

Abhishek Bachchan and John Abraham will once again flaunt their chemistry in DOSTANA 2. This romantic comedy film will be directed by Tarun Mansukhani.

Tusshar Kapoor will be again seen in a comic role in KYAA SUPER KOOL HAI HUM. This film is a sequel to KYA KOOL HAI HUM. Kapoor will share the screen space with Riteish Deshmukh, Sarah Jane Dias and Neha Sharma. The film is all set for an April 2012 release. KYA KOOL HAI HUM was an adult comedy and was received well by the young audience. Over the period of time, Tusshar and Ritiesh have created a great market for their comedy extravaganza.

JANNAT 2 will also be released on April 2012. Emraan Hashmi, Randeep Hooda and Esha Gupta will play the lead roles and Kunal Deshmukh dons the director's cap for the crime – thriller film.

A sequel to JISM is also being made. Interestingly, Sunny Leone of BIGG BOSS fame has been signed for JISM 2. Mahesh Bhatt met the gorgeous lady and offered her the lead role.

Sunny Deol will be once again portraying the role of Ajay Mehra from GHAYAL in GHAYAL RETURNS. The film is twenty year leap and is now progressing ahead. Hopefully, the film does wonders at the box-office.
