Manoj Bajpayee is sad. Reason being that SATYAGRAHA is perhaps the last film that he would be shooting for a really long time. Though he started off the year on a positive note with SPECIAL 26 and would soon be seen in SHOOTOUT AT WADALA, he hasn’t signed a single new project for over a year. Yes, you heard it

‘We should be finishing SATYAGRAHA this month and release it in August. That would be the last release of this year for me. Honestly, I am so sad that nothing interesting has come my way since GANGS OF WASSEYPUR last year. All films of mine that are coming now were signed before GANGS…. The films that I do now should match up to the kind of expectations that audience have from me as well as I have from my own work,” sighs Manoj.
‘The only silver lining is that I can now afford to relax and take my own sweet time before picking up anything else. I am in my comfort zone but then I don’t want to get overtly bored either,” says Manoj in a contemplative mode.

He has all the right reasons to be choosy since professionally, these have been interesting times for him with filmmakers as diverse as Neeraj Pandey, Sanjay Gupta, Anurag Kashyap and of course Prakash Jha reaching out to him.
Smiles Manoj, ‘Well, when director of these caliber appreciate your work and are willing to work with you again and again, it is humbling indeed. In cinema, an actor is one of the elements and not ‘the’ element. If an actor is being trusted upon by a set of directors then it is the biggest compliment that he can get.’
