The week saw Umesh Shukla’s Abhishek Bachchan, Asin, Rishi Kapoor and Zeeshan starrer ALL IS WELL and the Ketan Mehta directed Nawazuddin and Radhika biopic MANJHI–THE MOUNTAIN MAN hitting the marquee.
As expected, it was the Abhishek starrer ALL IS WELL which saw a decent start during the morning shows of a working day (20-25 percent). There was some improvement during the latter shows and ALL IS WELL should end up with a satisfactory weekend haul.
The other release of the week, MANJHI – THE MOUNTAIN MAN, which was never expected to set the box-office on fire, saw a lower start (10-15 percent) with slight improvement at high end metro multiplexes during the latter shows. The Nawaz-Radhika starrer can hope for a turnaround during the remaining days of the weekend, based on positive word-of-mouth.
Meanwhile, the Karan Malhotra directed Akshay, Sidharth, Jacqueline and Jackie starrer, BROTHERS, ended the first week netting a good 72 crore (to be validated) during the opening week from India.
However, given the high budget (80 crore) BROTHERS has to show a reasonably steady second week to be considered a safe or with some luck even a profitable venture.
