With SHORTCUT ROMEO travelling all the way to Cannes, there is a renewed interest that has been generated in the Neil Nitin Mukesh and Ameesha Patel starrer. With Neil gaining from the critical acclaim that came his way post DAVID & 3G and Ameesha finding herself back in the thick of affairs with RACE 2, the only 100 crore flick of the year so far, the pair is all geared up for the film’s promotional activities.
“Yes, SHORTCUT ROMEO has generated a lot of interest and fortunately for us, the buzz kick-started during the promotion of RACE 2 itself. People saw the first glimpse of our film back then and realised why I was so kicked about it from the very beginning,” says Ameesha who is returning as a negative lead many years after her much appreciated and remembered part in HUMRAAZ .
An entry into the Cannes has further helped the cause.

“Thankfully people would now know that this isn’t just another film,” smiles Ameesha, “There is so much potential that SHORTCUT ROMEO presents and now it is time for us to showcase that to the world. The kind of interest that the film has generated is nothing less than a double whammy for all of us. I have received calls where people who are not even connected to the world of films have told me that this is the best promo of the year.”
As for the commercial prospects of the film, Ameesha says, “See, SHORTCUT ROMEO is much smaller in budget than RACE 2 so it would be foolish for me to say that we are aspiring for a 100 crore tag. I can say though that it would bring back much more than what has been spent on it and most importantly, it would be loved by the audience.”
